Show-Me State Standouts in the NCAA Tournament
Here is a look at what the former Show-Me State prep standouts did in the NCAA Tournament:
Xavier Sneed (Kansas State): The former Hazelwood Central standout had a big tournament in leading the Wildcats to the Elite Eight. The 6’6″ Sneed had a breakout performance in the South Regional semifinals with 22 points, nine rebounds and five 3-pointers in a victory over Kentucky. He ended the season with 16 points, six rebounds and four 3-pointers in a loss to Loyola of Chicago in the regional finals in Atlanta.
Courtney Stockard (St. Bonaventure): The former Jennings standout had an excellent two-game tournament for the Bonnies. The 6’6″ Stockard had 26 points and four rebounds in a big victory over UCLA in the First Four in Dayton. He followed up with 14 points and six reobunds in a loss to Florida in the second round.
Michael Porter, Jr. (Missouri): The former Father Tolton star returned from his back surgery to play for the Tigers in the last two games of the season. The 6’10” Porter had 16 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in the Tigers loss to Florida State in the first round of the West Regional.
Landry Shamet (Wichita State): The former Park Hill standout had 11 points, four rebounds and eight assists in the Shockers’ first-round loss to Marshall.
Kevin Puryear (Missouri): The former Blue Springs South standout had eight points and five rebounds in the Tigers first-round loss to Florida State.
Jontay Porter (Missouri): The former Father Tolton standout had two points, six rebounds and five assists in the Tigers’ first-round loss to Florida State.
Amaad Wainright (Kansas State): The former Hogan Prep standout had six points and four rebounds in nine minutes in the Wildcats’ big victory over Kentucky in the Sweet 16.
Arlando Cook (Arkansas): The former Madison Prep standout had four points and two rebounds in the Razorbacks’ first-round loss to Butler.
Levi Stockard III (Kansas State): The former Vashon High standout provided solid minutes off the bench and contributed a basket in the Sweet 16 victory over Kentucky and Elite Eight loss to Loyola of Chicago.
