PH NorCal was at the first day of the Thanksgiving Showcase at Bishop 'O Dowd High School in Oakland, CA. We watched 6 games on Friday. Here are some of the prospects who played well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2615774' first='Zach' last='Barnes']: He's an experienced combo guard, good handles, and passing, he sees the court. He's actively looking to put points on the board when the opportunity presents itself, putting up mid-range jumpers, or weaving his way into the paint. He's a legitimate guard, a willing passer that can run the offense up top. He was good on the penetration to the basket for kick-out passes, or pulling up for paint jumpers. He can knock down 3's working off ball. He hit a big shot late in the game. 16pts, multiple assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2089492' first='AJ' last='Oscona']: He's a good point guard who can run the teams offense up top, he shows patience, makes good decisions. Good handles, has vision and good passing up court, and around the perimeter. He's got good change of direction making it tough for defenders to contain him on drives to the basket. He'll dish it, float it, or pull up for paint jumpers. He'll be a key contributor on this team. He scored 18pts.

[player_tooltip player_id='2136702' first='Cade' last='Taylor']: He was actively looking to put points on the board. He handles the ball using his dribble going in and out, roaming the perimeter looking to get to his spots for mid-range jumpers or drive it in. He used a quick release to put up 3-pointers. He's a willing passer, has shown he's a capable point guard that can run the offense. He had 4-3's some on the catch and shoot.

[player_tooltip player_id='2136698' first='AJ' last='Cole']: He continues to add pieces to his overall game. He's a quality point guard more than capable of running the teams offense. He has patience, makes good decisions. He has vision, and excellent passing skills. He seems to be more aggressive looking to put points on the board this season. He started the game with strong drives to the basket, he showed his new and improving shooting form putting up 3-pointers. He's one of the better guards in the 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2952258' first='King' last='Griffin']: It seems like the Freshman point guard has been given the keys to run the teams offense. Things are slowing down for him, he's playing at a good pace. He's got some moves to get his own shot opportunities. He's keeping his dribble live, finding players with good passing up court. He doesn't seem to be rattled by the moment, made plays down the stretch in a close game, made his free throws late. 19pts.

[player_tooltip player_id='3142824' first='Jamare' last='Garrison']: He's focused going into his Senior season. He's what we'll call the X Factor, he has effect on the game in different ways to help his team, not just scoring, he finished with 15pts. He used his dribble for good drives to the basket finishing in different ways, scoops and slicing his way through traffic. He's a good defender, has the footspeed to stay close to shooters, he keep dribblers out of the paint, he made plays on the defensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2452902' first='Gabe' last='Halbrecht']: He's in a position to take his game to a higher level coming into the early season. He's finding ways to be productive on both ends. He's scrapping for loose balls, playing hard on the defensive side, got a couple steals. Standing around 6'2 he's finding a body to box out going for rebounds. He's hustling to fill lanes in transition. He had a couple of strong dribble drives to the basket. He keeps the offense flowing, passing, cutting, moving without the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2700952' first='Hunter' last='Zack']: It's too early to label the Sophomore a shooter. He did come into the game, had good movement along the perimeter, roaming, shot ready to put up 3-pointers on the catch and shoot. He dropped a couple in the corners. He's still developing other parts to his game. He has length probably still growing. We've seen him use his dribble on occasion for mid-range, paint jumpers, and drives to the basket. He has range, we'll keep an eye on him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2687711' first='Chris' last='Berry']: He's be a contributor, usually comes off the bench to give the team a lift using his speed, and ball handling. He's a ball mover, keeps the offense flowing with extra passing, and cuts. He has the speed to push fast in transition when the opportunity presents itself, a good first step to get into the paint to finish drives in traffic. He's an effective on ball defender, can be disruptive at times. He gives quality over quantity.
