Feast Week: 2028 Standouts

Thanksgiving week I attended four tournaments for exactly 25 games and 48 different teams. The events I watched were Phoenix Union Coyote Classic at Central and Deer Valley for 2 days, Fear The Hop Tournament at Mesa HS, Ben Franklin Thanksgiving Classic at Ben Franklin and Gilbert Christian and lastly the LV8 Invitational at Chandler-Gilbert CC.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some 2028 Standouts</h2>   [player_tooltip player_id='2773900' first='Colin' last='Burke'] Gilbert Christian    A quick scoring point guard with a defensive mentality. He will score with a quick blow by past his initial defender and lay it up. He will crossover his man into a pull-up from mid-range and he is also a stud in transition with his speed and quickness. He can pester opposing points guards up the court.    [player_tooltip player_id='2878044' first='Novar' last='Byrd'] Red Mountain    A power forward is a long athlete who shows upside. He is a natural rim runner and runs the floor fluidly for transition points. He gobbles up rebounds and will block shots. He scored 6 points with many rebounds and blocked shots.      [player_tooltip player_id='2552782' first='Jaiden' last='Hong'] Chaparral    An undersized pure point guard has the ball on a string. He handles the heavy ball pressure, makes plays and will score. He uses the floater game, he will hit the three off the catch and is tough to score thru contact. He scored 11 points with some assists.    [player_tooltip player_id='2552784' first='Emir' last='Konicanin'] Paradise Valley    The lone bright spot in their loss was Konicanin. He is a strong wing forward with a lot of skill. He will score it with threes off the dribble or catch using a quick trigger, drives in the lane and euro steps to the rim. He scored 10 of their 52 points.   [player_tooltip player_id='2825310' first='Ryan' last='Morris'] Seton Catholic   An improving guard is handling it more and more to at least be a combo guard now and maybe be one of their lead guards next year when [player_tooltip player_id='2275986' first='KJ' last='Fauske'] graduates. He will score with off the dribble or catch threes and can jet to the basket to score. He is quick in the passing lanes to collect steals and he scored 5 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer'] Chandler    A bigger post player with a nice touch from inside and out. He can dunk it inside and face-up to the perimeter. He will euro step down the lane, use the floater, score with hook shots, tip-ins and is skilled and efficient around the basket. He scored 14 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='2893420' first='Davion' last='Rhymes'] Carl Hayden   A highly skilled guard with some skill who has a knack for putting points on the board. He will fill up the scoreboard with threes off the catch, layups in transition and he has one of the more polished mid-range jumpers. He scored 7 points. Robinson'] Pinnacle    A wing forward has one of the prettier shooting strokes in the sophomore class with high arcing mid-range jumpers and threes off the catch. He rebounds well in his area better then a year ago and he will block shots with his length and size. He scored 8 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='2825320' first='Dasaan' last='Schaeffer'] Cesar Chavez    A thicker point forward type with a huge IQ and feel for the game. He will score with pull-up threes, get on the glass with offensive rebound put backs and throw impressive passes up the court. He will take a charge and rebounds well in his area.    [player_tooltip player_id='2628384' first='Brayden' last='Strieter'] Ironwood Ridge    A combo forward who grew two inches. He is a very good rebounder with a motor to control the glass in and out of his area. He can rip thru and uses the floater game to score. He is another talented sophomore the Nighthawks have in their program.     [player_tooltip player_id='2949464' first='Tyce' last='Taylor'] ALA Ironwood   A long and lean wing who will score it from inside and out. He rebounds well in his area and will score on tip-ins. He has soft hands to catch tough passes in the lane and will go up quickly to score. He will contest shots at the rim. He scored 8 points.      [player_tooltip player_id='2734770' first='Cayden' last='VanHouten'] Eastmark (Pictured)   A good sized scoring guard can score it with the floater game, blow by's on the baseline with a sneaky quick burst and he is a catch and shoot three point type. He is quick in the passing lanes to defend and shows upside.   [player_tooltip player_id='2506451' first='Trey' last='Wenk'] Deer Valley   A scoring combo guard with a pretty shooting stroke and big confidence. He has range on his jumpers and the three point sniper has a pretty stroke with a fast trigger. He will also score it with runners, floaters and he is a sneaky good passer thru the traffic.
