Five Good Guys (Friday Night District Championship)
Several more district championship trophies were handed out on Friday night. Today’s installment of Five Good Guys list some stellar individual performers from last night’s action:
Aaron Brookins 6’2″ Carnahan: The talented 6’2″ 2018 wing had 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in Carnahan’s 62-51 victory over Maplewood in the Class 3, District 5 championship game at Vashon. Brookins’ all-around stellar play netted Carnahan its first ever district championship.
Torrence Watson 6’5″ Whitfield: The 2018 University of Missouri signee scored 33 points to lead the Warriors to a 55-51 victory over upset-minded Hancock in the Class 3, District 4 championship game at Whitfield. Watson is currently leading the St. Louis metropolitan area in scoring.
Isaiah Bean 6’1″ Spokane: The 2019 guard scored a game-high 28 points to lead Spokane to an 86-81 overtime victory over Skyline in the Class 2, District 10 championship game.
Hunter Gilkey 6’1″ Walnut Grove: The 2018 guard had a breakout performance with 31 points in the Tigers’ 86-55 victory over Greenfield in the Class 1, District 5 championship game. Gilkey has done a great job running shotgun alongside fellow 2018 standout Logan Thomazin, but last night was a good one for him to bask in the offensive spotlight.
Zach Harding 6’6″ Christian O’Fallon: The 2018 forward scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Eagles to a 68-39 victory over Montgomery County in the Class 3, District 7 championship game. An Army West Point commit for football, Harding is also a talented Stretch 4 who has been a matchup problem throughout his career.
