As the season comes to a close here in South Dakota, we take a look at some of the last regular season games. For some this last game could really determine the Region seeding so every game is a pretty much a must-win from here on out.
Tea Area vs. Beresford 7 p.m.
Tea Area has a nice eight-game win streak going and is looking to win their ninth game in a row when they host Beresford in their regular-season finale. Juniors, Noah Friedel and Justin Hohn look to close out the regular season with a bang. A couple games ago both had career games as Freidel scored his 1,00th point the same night he set the school record for 47 points in a game. Hohn also set a school record that night with 13 assists against Flandreau Indian. Tea has the number one spot locked up with 43.789 seed points. Beresford is sitting at seventh with 39.211 seed points. We will be at the game, so stay tuned to Twitter for game updates.
Sioux Falls Washington @ Sioux Falls O’Gorman 8 p.m.
Both teams have played better than their overall record this season. O’Gorman is looking to finishing the season strong and make a run at defending the State AA title. Washington defeated a pretty good Sioux City East (IA) team at the Pentagon earlier this season. Both teams will dangerous if they make the State Tournament. 1.243 seed points separate Washington and O’Gorman. Washington would be the No. 4 seed and O’Gorman would be the No. 9 seed in the Sweet 16. AA is wide open this year and will be fun to watch come state tournament time.
Sioux Falls Lincoln vs. Harrisburg 7 p.m.
Harrisburg has one of the best shooters in junior Nick Hoyt. The Patriots also have some firepower of their own in senior Dillon Barrow. With Jeff Halseth at the helm, it’s hard to count out the Patriots. This will be a good game against cross-town teams. The Tigers are sitting at the three seed with 42.895 seed points, and the Patriots are not far behind at the fifth seed with 42.588 points.
Dakota Valley @ Lennox 7:45 p.m.
Lennox went toe-to-toe with Dell Rapids a couple games ago, and have shown that they aren’t going to go down easy. Dakota Valley, on the other hand, has had a rough stretch of games to end the year. The Panthers are 1-3 in the last four games, with their most recent loss at No. 2 Madison. Lennox will compete and stick around for a good portion of the game if they play like they did against Dell Rapids but ultimately I see the Panthers coming away with the win to end the regular season. Lennox is sitting at the fifth seed in Region 4A with 40 seed points and with a win could potentially host the first round of Regions against Elk Point-Jefferson. Dakota Valley looks to have locked up the second seed no matter the outcome of the Lennox game with 43.474 seed points. Vermillion is third with 41.368.
