2025-26 ELDORADO EAGLES PREVIEW

OVERVIEW

Eldorado finished 13-16 (5-6 in district) last season and didn't earn a trip to the state tournament. They hope to reverse that in 2025-26 under long-time Eagles head coach Roy Sanchez, who won his 500th career game in 2024-25 to become the 12th coach in New Mexico history to reach that milestone.

“We've lost a few players. We've got a new crew. It's time to get going,” Sanchez told Prep Hoops New Mexico. “We had to get stronger, so we've spent a lot of time in the weight room. We weren't very big last year, and we still aren't real big. We'll see who steps in and who wants to play by putting the time and work in. We have a lot of young guys.”

Wills had a solid summer on the AAU and camp circuit, averaging over 13 points per game at the Adidas National Championships. “Charlie is definitely going to be one of our top players,” Sanchez said. “He's a good leader. He was our leader last year as a sophomore. Charlie makes things go.”

FINAL THOUGHTS

Eldorado opens the 2025-26 season with a two-game trip to El Paso, TX on Thanksgiving weekend. They'll face El Paso (TX) El Dorado and El Paso (TX) Socorro before returning to Albuquerque for a road test at Atrisco Heritage.

Eldorado competes in District 5A-2 with Capital, La Cueva, Manzano, Sandia and Santa Fe. With a smaller roster, Sanchez plans to play uptempo and force the action.

“We like to move the basketball and press a little bit and create turnovers with our defense,” Sanchez said.
