PICTURED: Team 6

Sunday's PrepHoops: The Expo featured dozens of the best prospects in Tennessee. This was a great opportunity to see a bunch of guys as they head into their season. Take a look at the players that made up Team 6. Numbers listed within parentheses are merely the jersey number from the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877908' first='Yousab' last='Awad'] (#229)

[player_tooltip player_id='2523939' first='Israel' last='Dillard'] (#263)

[player_tooltip player_id='2968688' first='Payson' last='McVicker'] (#268)

[player_tooltip player_id='2422669' first='Terrell' last='Searcy'] (#279)

[player_tooltip player_id='2140801' first='William' last='Knight Jr']. (#233)

[player_tooltip player_id='2866448' first='Abram' last='Phillips'] (#259)

[player_tooltip player_id='2140801' first='William' last='Knight Jr']. / Riverdale / 2027

9/28/25: Quick. Knight Jr. is ok with the handle, but as he begins his junior season William needs to incorporate some more creative and tricky maneuvers. As an undersized guard his ability to dribble by defenders will make or break him. Defenders need to be guessing and scrambling most of the time when he has the ball. That will instantly add value to his game. Knight Jr. is a wonderful teammate, and his attitude helps both himself and his team succeed. Can score in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='2523939' first='Israel' last='Dillard'] / Rossview / 2028

9/28/25: Israel is not a point guard yet, but he did demonstrate an ability to spearhead a fastbreak against shorter defenders. Outside shooting was spotty. Dillard scored unabated in the final minutes of a one-point victory. Prideful. Israel rebounded consistently. He did not show full leaps to catch most, which is typical. When your opposing rebounders are 5-6" shorter, the tendency is to jump just enough. Can he win rebounding battles against 6-foot-6 players? There was no need to demonstrate this ability at the Expo because the competition lacked size mostly. Still, his rebounding prowess requires that he win tougher battles once the season starts in 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id='2422669' first='Terrell' last='Searcy'] / Lebanon / 2026

9/28/25: Solid defender though he played harder defensively after he made a basket. Of course, we all feel energized after making a basket, but Terrell needs to show that intensity regardless of his offensive results. Great fitness. Searcy will be one of the best on-ball defenders in his district this season. Motor is very good. And Terrell is a strong-bodied guard that might give away a few inches to taller guards. To compensate he needs to continue defending with his feet and even chest. Pesky and pugnacious is the key. Finished with both hands around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877908' first='Yousab' last='Awad'] / Wilson Central / 2028

9/28/25: Good defensive awareness. Vocal defender. Needs to gain weight/strength in the chest and shoulders. Guards get more physical at the top varsity level (4A) and beyond. Awad has some herky-jerky to his drives, which helps. In order to finish consistently in the lane at the 4A level he will need to get stronger and perhaps bouncier. As long as he stands 6' or shorter these are requirements to be a lane-scorer. Found a loose ball or two. Nice instincts. Court awareness is better than average. Scrappy. Focused on the right things every play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2866448' first='Abram' last='Phillips'] / Pickett County / 2028

9/28/25: Poised. Consistent catch-and-shoot guy. Did not force shots. Abram's balance is good. Might grow another inch or two. Not that explosive yet. Could become a power guard, but Pickett County definitely features a lead point guard (Cole Amonett). Abram could be Cole's secondary ball-handler. Supremely unselfish. Heady player. Put effort into offensive rebounding. Better than average court vision.

[player_tooltip player_id='2968688' first='Payson' last='McVicker'] / Nolensville / 2029

9/28/25: Naturally strong. Good frame for adding weight and playing as a bruising wing. Physically he reminds of [player_tooltip player_id='2479968' first='Daxton' last='Evans']. He is the size to be a wonderful screener. Young players typically do not understand the value of screens. But Payson can be and should be a top picker at the high school level. That will also open up offensive opportunities for him after he sets it.
