Sophomore ID Camp – Team 1 Player Evaluations

He looked the part this weekend. In true [player_tooltip player_id='2758903' first='Jayce' last='Goff'] style, he was a high percentage decision maker that could advance the ball and get it to it's spots. Steady as can be, like every time I see him play. He did a very nice job playing through contact. He played with a lot of effort and energy. Dockery was really strong with his right hand and showed the ability to fend off defenders and finish through them. He played downhill and was able to pish the pace, a couple of times earning him easier looks at the rim. Dockery also showed that he can distribute. He was long and athletic. Listed as a point guard, but sure looked comfortable playing on the wing as well. Pritchard had an impact all over the court. He's listed as a post, but he can take the ball on the perimeter and attack the rim. Thurman showed his offensive vision when he recognized a double lane and immediately attacked it off the bounce. He's an athletic player that plays really hard every second that he's on the floor. Beckum can get out in transition with his hustle, He was able to hang in the air and adjust on the finish. The young man has a strong frame and he looked like he knew how to use it. While he can score and do it pretty efficiently, it was his defense that really stood out this weekend. Younce showed that he could defend all over the floor. He was able to push the ball coast to coast. I saw him fill a wing as well, which led to transition layup. Phillips even pushed the pace and passed on the move, making correct decisions with the ball along the way. He also had a tough put back bucket in traffic. He had the look of a very versatile and well rounded forward. Hinkle showed that he could be effective at any pace, but I liked when he pushed off a rebound, drew the D and dished it off.
