Tuesday Night’s Top Five
It’s Tuesday Night and High School Basketball has the main stage. On a big night for hoops, what are the five biggest games to see in North Dakota? Prep Hoops runs you through them.
Ellendale at Edgeley/Kulm/Montpellier. The Cardinals have won eight in a row while the Rebels have won five of six games. These are Region Five teams who are both chasing Carrington and neither can afford this lose, especially the Rebels. Ellendale is an excellent defensive basketball team that has lost their two games by one point each where the Rebels have had some tough losses. Hunter Thorpe of Ellendale has had some huge games including 30 points last week. Junior Isaac Huber is getting numbers for the Rebels.
Bismarck Century at Minot. Century is on a role having won eight in a row and they recently avenged losses to Mandan and Bismarck with buzzer beaters. Considering that Minot lost the previous game by 29 points it’s hard to believe that Century would need another buzzer beater to win this game. That said, Minot and Century have had some good battles in the past and all Class A eyes will be on this game this evening.
Grafton/St. Thomas at Cavalier. Just 11 days ago these teams went to battle with Cavalier winning on the road. Now they have a home game against the angry Spoilers who want revenge. Cavalier has taken their lumps against good teams until that upset win two weeks back. Can they beat the Spoilers for the second straight week? That’s going to be tough as the Spoiler are a veteran team with a lot of talent including Dalton Albrecht, Marcus Niemann, and Beau Feltman.
New Town at Garrison. The Troopers are holding teams under 50 points a game but can they hold a player like DJ LeBeau and his squad under 50? The 13-1 Eagles have scored some huge numbers putting 92 on Trenton and 75 on Parshall. It’s big offense against hard working defenders. What gives?
Bottineau at Kenmare. Bottineau is a ranked team that is 12-2 and on top of District 11 where as Kenmare is 10-4 and in the same District as Stanley. They are in two different spots and the top player on the floor will be Max Henry. If the Honkers can do something with Henry in their own house this could be the win they need to build momentum. But slowing Henry and his team is tough as they just scored 93 points last Friday and have only been beaten twice this year.
