A few new names on the scene
There are an abundance of quality basketball players putting in the work around the Show-Me State. With so many players to watch and keep track of, it’s easy for some good players to get overlooked a little bit. Here is a look at five such players who are having excellent seasons for their teams.
Josh Pritchett 6’4″ Rolla: A two-sport 2018 standout, Pritchett was a talented quarterback who led Rolla to a district championship in football. He has proven to be a stud on the basketball court as well with his skill and versatility on the perimeter in leading the Bulldogs to an 18-1 record. He handles the ball and passes well enough to play the point, but he can also get buckets on the drive and from long distance. With his size, he is also a good rebounder who can get some things done inside.
Chandler Bevans 6’7″ Clark County: The 2018 forward has enjoyed an excellent year in leading Clark County to a 17-2 record, which included a 16-game winning streak to start the sesaon. Last weekend, Bevans scored 30 points in a head to head matchup with Iowa recruit xx of Muscatine (IA) at the Quincy (IL) Shootout. He has excellent skill level around the basket, but he can also step out and knock down perimeter shots as well.
Terrell Cannamore 6’3″ Roosevelt: The Roughriders may be struggling in the won-loss column this season, but the bright spot has been the play of this versatile 6’3″ 2019 wing player. He was impressive during the summer while playing with the STL Hardwood Hunks and that has continued into the season, where he has put up some of the best numbers in the St. Louis area, averaging 27 points, 13 rebounds four assists and five steals a game. His combination of athleticism and skill level have made for a very productive season. He is also a nice prospect on the football field.
Jake Goldfarb 6’0″ John Burroughs: The 2018 guard has been one of the mainstay performers in the Bombers strong turnaround under first-year coach Corey Frazier. Goldfarb is a four-year starter who has been putting up some excellent numbers in recent games, especially when it comes to shooting the basketball. He scored 27 points and made seven 3-pointers in a loss to Ladue and scored 25 points and made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Lutheran North.
Jacob Powelson 6’3″ North Andrew: A versatile 2018 guard who is one of the key components of the Cardinals’ 18-0 team that is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 1. He has good size for a guard, plus he can handle and knock down 3-pointers on a consistent basis. What I really like about him is his passing ability. He has tremendous court vision and he finds open teammates from anywhere on the court.
Nate Dillinger 6’2″ Bernie: A hidden talent from the Southeast part of the state, Dillinger is a smooth lefty who has been getting buckets at a high rate for the past three seasons. He has been averaging well over 20 points a game the past two years. This year, he has led Bernie to a 13-5 record, which included the championship of the SCAA Tournament last weekend when they upset top-seeded Dexter. Dillinger scored a game-high 23 points in the victory.
