About Gavin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Dynamic combo guard with elite handles and a deadly 3-point shot. Can score at all three levels and break down defenders off the dribble. Confident with the ball in my hands and always looking to create plays that shift momentum.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

From the time I picked up a basketball at age 4, I’ve been dedicated to mastering the game. My mentality is built on consistency and discipline — I treat every practice, workout, and game as an opportunity to grow. I study the game, pay attention to details, and take pride in preparation. I’m focused, coachable, and bring a professional approach to every aspect of my development.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Basketball has helped me grow as both a leader and a teammate. I’ve learned how to communicate effectively, stay composed under pressure, and keep others focused on our goals. I try to bring energy, accountability, and support to every team I’m part of and I enjoy giving back through youth coaching and local youth league that help inspire the next generation of players

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Being a late bloomer has been one of my biggest challenges, but it’s also been one of my greatest motivators. I learned early that I’d have to be the most skilled and hardest-working player on the court. That experience shaped my mentality. I’m disciplined, coachable, and take pride in consistent improvement. My love for the game drives me to work every day like I still have something to prove

Recently added to our 2028 rankings, Hoffman had a monster scoring performance against the host Oak Hills for Turpin. Hoffman is one of the elite shooters in Ohio’s 2028 class and he benefits from some creative sets and off-ball screening actions that allow him to catch the ball with the space to fire away off the catch. Hoffman also can attack closeouts and didn’t force the issue on Thursday night. Look for Hoffman to contend for the leading scorer and 3-point shooter in the ECC this winter.

Hoffman is a kid that you want on your team. You can tell he is a winner and willing to do whatever it takes to win. He has a high motor and did the little things for his team. He was active on both ends of the floor. He should have gotten the ball more on offense, but even though he did not, he didn’t let it affect his defense. He does have some nice skills offensively, though. During the king of the court and 3 3 session, he really excelled. He has a tight handle and was able to get the space he needed. Showed talented scoring aspects.
