Zero Gravity Live Finale: 2026 wings who impressed

This past weekend, I attended the Zero Gravity Live Finale at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I watched mostly games from the varsity division, though I saw some other games as well.   As always, it's impossible to see every team and player. Just because you aren't written up doesn't mean you didn't have a great weekend — it's just hard to get a chance to watch everybody.   I'll be having coverage throughout the week recapping the event. Dargati is a flamethrower who has tons of range and the confidence to keep stroking it even after a couple misses. The 6-foot-4 wing has a pretty release and so much arc on his shot, and he can make shots off of both the catch and the dribble. When the defense started overplaying his three ball, he made great kick out and backdoor passes for his teammates and a bunch of unselfish extra passes too. He needs to improve his quickness and athleticism, but his skills and IQ are at a very high level and he looks to still have some more physical development in his future.     Jones is an incredibly strong-bodied wing who got to the rim at will in his Saturday afternoon contest. The rising senior has a good first step and is impossible to push off his line once he gets a shoulder past you. At the rim, he uses up fakes and crafty footwork to get good looks and his strong upper body to take contact in the air quite effectively. He also has a great motor and the toughness necessary to guard larger, stronger players. He'll be a college player when the time comes and I'm very curious whether he is looking to reclassify (or if he already has).     Montanari was his squad's biggest player this weekend and was thus tasked with all of the dirty work against opposing big men -- rebounding, taking contact in the paint, etc. He more than held his own, though, and looked quite comfortable on the offensive end as a downhill attacker and finisher. He has a super quick first step and is devastating as a leaper at the hoop because of his ability to maintain his balance and strength despite being hit in the air; he had multiple impressive and-one finishes in the game I watched. He can also knock down the three ball from time to time and plays his behind off all game. Kid is a competitor.     Thompson really impressed me with his combination of size and shooting. The 6-foot-4 lefty has a quick and accurate release and consistently made shots from the mid range and three, both off the catch and off the dribble. He had some trouble handling the ball and effectively attacking closeouts, but he has good passing vision and can play really well without the rock in his hands. He also had a couple nice moves in the post, where he leaned on his strength and size to bully smaller defenders. I'll be curious what Thompson's role looks like on a really talented MacDuffie team this season.     O'Brien was ridiculously undersized for the wing/big position, but he somehow held his own against anybody who tried to take him into the lane. He has excellent strength, athleticism and toughness, which make him a versatile and capable defender against far bigger players. He was constantly working his behind off on the glass, too, getting offensive and defensive rebounds he had no business getting. I have to imagine O'Brien is very good at another sport, or maybe even multiple — the competitiveness, athleticism and toughness are a rare combination. D3 hoops might be a bit of a stretch but he'll be a do-it-all guy for Goffstown High School this coming season.
