Faith Lutheran - The Faith Lutheran Crusaders went 2-2 at Section 7. Their first game was against Mira Costa (CA) who they ended up defeating 80-69. There were multiple standouts that helped them grab the win, including: [player_tooltip player_id='1895435' first='Dashel' last='Wiley'], [player_tooltip player_id='1253134' first='Mason' last='Schweitzer'], [player_tooltip player_id='1962913' first='Bentley' last='Swinn'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2303381' first='Tyson' last='Price']. They were playing fast, sharing the ball, and hitting their open shots. The Crusaders then went on to win their next game 70-66 over St. Pius (CA). Unfortunately they fell to Canyon (CA) 70-59 in their third matchup. They would have been in the championship had they won. I was also able to watch their last game of the weekend when they played St. Augustine (CA). It was a close game throughout, and I noticed a few Faith Lutheran guys making timely shots. Like [player_tooltip player_id='2474540' first='Cason' last='Tomsheck']. But St. Augustine ultimately secured the win 61-59. Overall, the Crusaders played well and had a number of guys contribute down in Arizona. I also liked that they didn't mind making the extra pass. Looking ahead to next season, they will absolutely be a formidable team in 4A. They'll just need to continue to build chemistry and prepare for tight games.

Legacy - The Legacy Longhorns dropped their first game of Section 7 to Pacifica Christian (CA) 77-62. They then got a big win against Desert Vista that I was able to see. It was back and fourth in the last few minutes, and it looked like Desert Vista might push things to over time after scoring with about 10 seconds left. But then [player_tooltip player_id='2635490' first='Grayson' last='Williams'] drove with the ball to the paint, and found [player_tooltip player_id='1945332' first='Lennox' last='Grayson'] in the corner. Who splashed in the game winning 3 at the buzzer. Giving the Longhorns the win, 53-50. It was one of the more entertaining finishes of the weekend, and the bench cleared as soon as they were able to. Legacy then lost a very close game to Viewmont (UT) 80-79. The Longhorns then closed out the weekend with a win against Red Mountain (AZ) 65-62. All in all, the Longhorns gave great effort in each game that they played. They have a number of athletic players who can get up and down the court. Both underclassmen guards [player_tooltip player_id='2654786' first='Jordan' last='Troya'] (2028) and Jordyn Perdue (2027) had decent showings. As for next season. They have some skill and speed. However they don't have a ton of size and length. So they may need to be a team that is constantly hustling.
