George McClellan Invitational (GMI) Houston- 17u Standouts

Shia was a man amongst boys on Saturday, using his strength and athleticism to dominate opposing teams en route to leading his Texas Takeover Rise squad to a 2-0 record. In his first game, Shia scored 14 points, doing the majority of his damage in the first half with 10 points, while collecting multiple rebounds and steals. Shia is a coast-to-coast type of guard who turns defensive rebounds and steals into crowd-pleasing dunks and lob throwdowns. Far from just a ball bully, Francis plays with controlled power and pace, allowing him to rise above the rim while using his body to fluidly attack the paint and finish at the rim in the half court as well.     Malachi is a strong bodied face up forward that imposes his will extremely well in the paint. Anderson flourishes by using his active hands and size to convert offensive rebounds and drop off passes from teammates for easy lay ins and dunks. Malachi showed the ability to stretch the floor by taking shots from the FT line out to the 3pt line. Malachi had 14 points and a near double digit rebounding effort in a Saturday morning win in the annual GMI.     It took a few minutes into gameplay for Cam to start cooking, but once he turned it on, it was a show. He knocked down multiple threes, including a game-high four three-pointers against a talented Texas Takeover Rise squad. Far from just a shooter, Cam mixed it up defensively and showed the ability to get to the paint and finish over length and size. With improved foot speed and lateral quickness, Cam could truly assert himself as a bona fide offensive threat. He finished with 14 points in the defeat.      Jamorian is a high energy lefty that proved to be very effective when he played downhill while attacking defenders from the high post and perimeter. At times, Jones lets the speed of the game effect his ability to make the right play, but with continued skill development and more meaningful minutes, Jones could be a solid contributor by using his desire to compete and high motor.     Tywan is a true extension of the coach on the floor. He used his communication skills to effectively get teammates in the right spots and was constantly vocal during timeouts, in-game situations, and on defense. More than just a voice, Collins uses his quickness on both ends of the floor, making him a true 94-foot defender. He also showed the ability to break down defenders with his crafty handle as a left-handed point guard.
