Essien’s explosiveness, agility, speed, and quickness stand out on both ends of the court. A two-sport athlete with natural instincts, he plays with a relentless motor and strong drive, making it tough for defenders to keep him out of his spots. Whether he’s finishing at the rim or setting up teammates, he consistently makes positive plays whenever the ball is in his hands.

Essien lives in the paint and pairs high energy with constant pressure alongside his frontcourt counterpart. After averaging 18 points per game during the regular season, he’s carried that production into the postseason with double-figure scoring in both playoff contests and shows no signs of slowing down. His quickness allows him to consistently exploit defensive gaps, generating over 10 paint touches per game. He plays with a rare blend of poise and intensity, and he’s also capable of stepping out and knocking down shots from deep when defenses collapse.

Athletic guard looks to attack off the dribble. Hunts his offense from all three levels. Knocks down pull-up jumpers, gets to his floater and extends the defense with his three-point shot. Has to make sure the ball doesn’t stick on offense. Likes isolation settings. Has energy on both ends of the floor. Put up 16 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block in a 45-41 win over Prince Avenue.
