The best thing about summer basketball is learning new names on the basketball scene.

Cameron Best of Benilde-St. Margaret's. BSM has the guards/wings to have another good season and from what we saw this past weekend they have a 6'4 working forward in Cameron Best they can lean on as well. Best rebounded, defended, and scored actively. He's a solid player that should work well after a solid year on the JV as a junior.

Vinny Lucarelli of Delano. Vinny started some games last year, was off the bench other games, and was a consistent player that scored three buckets a game on average last season. Vinny was a double figure scorer for Delano against BSM as a three man that also rebounded and made shots at the perimeter and at the rim.

Ajuda Odiri of East Ridge. East Ridge had several seniors-to-be that were on JV a year ago that stepped into roles and helped the team play well yesterday. Odiri played a role of ball pressuring defender and active player that I thought did some good things for his team. He hustled to the rim for some buckets but Odiri should mostly help the team defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119592' first='Josiah' last='Smith'] of Park Center. The 6'6 forward has some potential to be a key player up front for the Pirates next weekend. Smith is an agile player that runs well, is reasonably quick off his feet, and was able to defend the ball screen with good lateral steps and good drops into the help and back to his man. Had a couple dunks and was able to defend in the paint well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560809' first='Bjorn' last='Stewart'] of Delano. Stewart is strong, tough, skilled, and consistent. He started for the Tigers last year and had near double-double numbers scoring regularly around the basket against BSM yesterday. Stewart is one of three returning starters for the Tigers who might be a bit better than people are expecting.
