A deep dive on ETG Midwest 15u

The 15u team for ETG Midwest had their best session so far during competition in Omaha for the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. Here are my thoughts on every players performance.    Yasir Grixby was the point man for ETG's offense and the head of the snake for the defense last weekend.   Grixby plays with outstanding pace for his age. He is a really good passer who distributes the ball at a high level controlling the game.   He is a real athlete with a high vertical that allows him to play above his height. That allows Yasir to be a good finisher around the rim even when met with contact.   He is a pet of a defender that gets under ball handlers and causes deflections. Yasir is always aware of his surroundings and seems to always be in the right place for steals. He also uses his IQ to read passing lanes.   His best game came in a route over the Compton Magic where he scored 10 points, had three assists and one steal.   <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2RrDYe">http://www.hudl.com/v/2RrDYe</a>     [player_tooltip player_id='2364881' first='Landon' last='Glock'] was effective for ETG last weekend scoring timely buckets in multiple games.   Glock is a threat the defense has to respect from beyond the arch. He can shoot off the catch and also off the dribble from three and the midrange.   Glock is responsible with the ball rarely turning it over and making the right pass multiple times. While I wouldn't say playmaking is a mainstay of his game, he is capable of finding the open man.   On defense he holds his own and is able to guard wings fairly well.   His best game came against Wildcat Select where he scored 11 points, grabbed two rebounds, three assists and one steal.      [player_tooltip player_id='2920189' first='Keaton' last='Melcher'] is a flame thrower from deep who made two or more threes in every game last weekend.   Melcher can shoot it with range off the catch and can also create his own shot. He gets good spin on the ball and good arch on his shot. The best example was his three back-to-back deep catch and shoot threes in the first game against Wildcat Select.   Melcher has to continue to improve his shot off the dribble, but he has the potential to be the best shooters in the state by the time he's finished.   Keaton got bumped off the line occasionally while driving however, the times he did get to the rim he finished well.   His best game came in ETG's win over Wildcat Select where he led the team with 17 points on four made threes, two rebounds and one assists.      Markese Pope had a well-rounded weekend where he imposed his imprint on both ends of the court all weekend.   Pope is an impactful defender with long arms and active hands. Pope gives second efforts when beat initially fighting back into the play for late and review contest.   He has a great feel for the game overall and does a lot of little things right that may not go noticed in the box score.   Pope is a good passer who advances the ball immediately when seeing a teammate with a better opportunity to push the pace. In the half court he has solid vision as well finding open teammates often.   He is a strong finisher around the rim seeking out contact instead of shying away from it. Jackosn has a crafty good handle with a soft touch on floaters and other finishes around the basket.   He is a good shooter off the catch with range who is well prepared before catching the pass allowing him to get his shot up faster. Braylon's gets under his shot giving it a good arch and good rotation.   He can also shoot off the dribble with a good one dribble pull up.   He provided a spark in other areas of the game as well giving good effort for lose balls and on the glass for tip ins.   On defense he has active hands and gets deflections in his team's press. He is a good athlete with some vertical pop to his game.   His best performance came against the Compton Magic where he scored 15 points on three, one rebound, three assists and one steal.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/PrepHoopsNE/status/1922549639414215064 </div></figure>     Jayvis Johnson is reliable shooter for ETG who showed flashes of a well-rounded game at times last weekend.   Johnson's best asset is his shot which he knocks down off the catch consistently.   He is a good finisher for his size and has a good handle to get past defenders. He could deal with pressure a little better as he can be occasionally bothered by bigger athletic guards pressing him but overall, he held up fine in his minutes.   Jayvis has good vision and finds shooters at a good rate when driving. On defense he competes and has good hands poking at ball handlers for steals.   His best game came the team's blowout win over the Compton Magic where he scored nine points, grabbed two rebounds, three assists and two steals.     RayRay Brown showcased his high level of athleticism and his motor last weekend in Omaha.   He is a high jumper on the court which he uses in multiple facets of his game. Brown pairs good timing with his vertical to protect the rim at a high level for someone his height.   He is also a force on the offensive glass where he garnered several extra possessions for his team over the weekend.   His offensive game is largely based in transition and him finishing around the rim. Brown jump shot could improve however, he has plenty of time to tweak it.   His best game came against Wildcat Select where he scored six points, two rebounds, two blocks and a steal for ETG.     [player_tooltip player_id='2519375' first='Yahya' last='Harris'] is a young player with a lot of potential which he showed last weekend.   Harris has a mature physical frame for his age that he uses to help him finish around the rim. He has good footwork and uses different types of footwork like euro steps to get to the rim.   He has a good handle that allows him to navigate defenses and get to his spot.   Yahya is a solid shooter who didn't have the best weekend from deep but has made shots in the past at a good level. His form is unique and can lead to his misses being short at times, but it mostly works for him.   His best game for ETG came in their matchup with the Compton Magic where he scored 12 points on two made threes, had three rebounds, and two assists.      [player_tooltip player_id='2452912' first='Ivan' last='Bamaze'] showcased a lot of different aspects of his game last weekend.   Bamaze has good positional mobility and a good motor. He fights for rebounds outside of his area making him a problem on the glass.   Ivan jumps well and has good timing for blocks. He had two separate games where he recorded two or more blocks. Ivan also held up well when switched on perimeter moving his feet and contesting shots.   On offense he is a solid finisher around the rim who could improve his touch from further out.   Bamaze scored 12 points, grabbed two rebounds, and had three assists in his most productive game of the weekend against the Compton Magic.     [player_tooltip player_id='2523932' first='Kalan' last='Steinbeck'] is a raw talent that feels like could put everything together in the near future.   He didn't have the best shooting weekend, but he is a clear shooter. His form looks smooth, and he shoots it with confidence whether his shot was falling or not.   Kalan can also get to the rim and beat defenders of the dribble. He is a good finisher around the rim who has good touch in that area.   Steinbeck is not just a good athlete, but he has a good feel for the game overall. He showed potential to one day become an effective passer to go along with his scoring.
