Listed as a combo guard for now, continues to sharpen his point guard skills standing 6’3. He’s a ball handler, sees the court, has good cross and up court passing, deals with ball pressure. He’ll use his dribble, can hit short pull ups, maybe a floater, plays off two feet. He will take open 3ptrs. He’s got length to help rebound, and take up passing lanes.

He made his contributions as a reserve his first year on the Varsity. He’s steadily improving as a player. He’s a point guard by nature with good ball handling, vision and passing, he takes care of the ball a willing facilitator. He works mostly off ball right now, has shown a few moves off the dribble drive to get his shot off. He’s an alert defender, positions himself, double down, or trap up top.

Harper Mathews — 6’2 G | 2029 | Lincoln

Harper Mathews showed impressive poise for a freshman, running Lincoln’s offense with maturity and control. A natural pass-first point guard, he distributed the ball well, kept teammates involved, and showed strong instincts for organizing the team in the half court.

Mathews also demonstrated that he can create his own shot, using his handle and size to get to his spots when needed. As he continues to gain experience, he’ll benefit from learning when to pick his moments to be more aggressive — the tools are clearly there.
