Springy southpaw with quick hops and explosive athleticism. Despite his smaller frame, he plays much bigger and never lets his size limit his impact. He attacks the basket with purpose, using floaters, high-arcing finishes off the glass, and quick layups to score through different situations. Decisive going downhill, he also has the ability to rise up and knock down the jumper.

Gates has made the move to Gainesville for his sophomore season. He is a skilled, shot making lead guard who really knows how to play. The rising sophomore has a good command of the basketball and is a reliable decision maker. Gates has above average quickness and should continue his progression as a college prospect in the 2029 recruiting class.

The freshman point guard earned All-Region honors for the Hawks after averaging nearly five assists per game. Gates has good quickness and sees the floor well, consistently putting teammates in position to score. He plays with a high basketball IQ and shows strong command of the basketball as a primary ball handler. Gates is also a capable perimeter shooter, able to knock down open shots when defenses collapse or go under screens.
