<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Tuesday night PHI was able to check in on the rarely seen blue division teams in the Chicago Public League. This game featured the two best teams who I felt had the most talent on each roster in Bowen and Little Village.  This game was a very close back-and-forth game until the final minutes when Bowen made a final push for the win. Here are the top players and contributors for both teams as Bowen topped Little Village 70-65.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><u>Bowen</u></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2321399' first='Rae'Qwon' last='Rogers'] 2025 6'2</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Strong and athletic guard who paced his team well with his scoring and all-out effort on defense.&nbsp; Rogers is known for getting in the lane and using body control to contour at different angles to score in traffic. In the first quarter he showed his shooting range as he calmly knocked down the only three-pointer he took in the first 2 minutes of the game. From there on out it was constant attacks at the basket and getting to the free-throw line. At halftime he led the team with 11 points but they were down just 2. In the second half it was more of the same of him getting to the paint and scoring through contact and eventually leading the Boilermakers to its first CPS Championship. Rae'Qwon led all scorers with 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jeremiah Carter&nbsp;2025 6'1</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carter is another guard who gets in the lane and makes tough shots look routine. Jeremiah has a good touch and feel for scoring when he gets near the rim. What he doesn't get mentioned for enough is how well he rebounds the ball. Carter is one of those guards who just has a feel of where the ball is going to land and puts himself in the area when it comes off the rim. His nose for the ball was huge as most of the offensive boards he ran down became second-chance points for Bowen and was a big reason they stayed in the game. Carter ended with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He would also make the two free throws that sealed the game and the championship for the Boilermakers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ahmad Marega 2025 6'3</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marega is one of the players from the squad that stretches out the defense with his shooting. He's a bigger guard that can score from anywhere on the perimeter. He managed to hit a trio of threes in the game to help keep Bowen within reach of Little Village when they went on a mini-run. Ahmad finished with 11 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><u>Little Village&nbsp;</u></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323261' first='Pablo' last='Rodriguez'] 6'8&nbsp; 2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A transfer from Chi-Prep Rodriguez has had a big season since joining the Phoenix. The highly skilled forward scored the first basket on a leak-out fastbreak with a dunk. The other buckets came off missed baskets that he easily scored with small jump hooks. In the second half Pablo drained two three-pointers with his team trailing. Rodriguez was the biggest player on the court but only used his size advantage on defense to detour shots. Pablo finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2439331' first='Emmanuel' last='Resendez']&nbsp; 5'11” 2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Resendez is a small but effective spot-up shooter who made 4 threes in the game with a trio of them coming from the corner in the first quarter alone. By the second half the defense made the adjustments and he was able to only hit 1 three off a transition play. Emmanuel has a quick release and does a good job at staying out of sight until the ball is swung his way. He finished with 14 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2846950' first='Dion' last='Boyd']&nbsp; 6'3 2027</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Boyd is an athletic guard who scored well from the elbow and offensive rebounds.&nbsp; He's a player who gets off the ground quickly and can finish around the basket with either hand. Dion has good shooting mechanics and made two shots from three mid-range. He had 11 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2439324' first='Tyshawn' last='Miller'] 6'0 2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Miller is a shifty guard who came off the bench and scored most of his buckets after the first quarter.&nbsp; Miller is a lefty who has a quick crossover that gets him in the lane and scores around the basket in tight spaces. Tyshawn was a factor on defense also getting his hands on steals which led to a few fastbreak points for Little Village.&nbsp; He scored 11 points for the Phoenix.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
