High school programs across the Southland are either preparing for a potential playoff run or regrouping for next season as league play has officially come to a close. With a full regular season of viewing in the books, we were able to see some of the best freshmen in the region and develop a 50 prospect watchlist for the class of 2028. Below we break down some of the best freshmen guards we've watched at some point this fall and winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194462' first='Jordan' last='Mize'] | Sierra Canyon

Mize is a smooth-shooting lefty with deep range off the catch. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has a long, wiry frame, balanced and efficient shooting mechanics and the ability to attack closeouts and finish at the rim. We expect him to take a major leap over the spring and summer and mold into a go-to guy for Sierra Canyon over the next couple of seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750197' first='Josh' last='Agbo'] | Corona Centennial

Agbo is the prized prospect among Centennial's talented influx of 2028 players and he has done a nice job of living up to the hype he had behind him. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is a strong, physical and athletic driver who can get downhill and finish through or above contact, which you don't often see a freshman do well in their first year of varsity action. Agbo has also shown improvements on his consistency as a catch and shoot threat.

[player_tooltip player_id='2746607' first='Josh' last='Lowery'] | Legacy Christian Academy

Lowery is another freshman prospect whose size, strength and fluid athleticism allow him to impact the game inside and work his way out. The 6-foot-4 guard slashes his way to the rim for paint finishes, can create for himself and teammates off the bounce and flashed smooth shooting mechanics off the catch and off the bounce. Lowery is averaging 16 points per game this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750208' first='JR' last='Mosley'] | Legacy Christian Academy

Mosely has a very well-balanced game as a high IQ playmaker and as a prospect who can fill up the scoring column when needed. The 6-foot-1 point guard plays with great pace which lends to his ability to see the floor and set up teammates for open looks. He has a simple, but efficient handle on the ball and can get in the lane and score with floaters or knock down an open three. Mosely is averaging 14 points per game on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750206' first='Kai'noa' last='Patton'] | Corona Centennial

Patton is one of the best athletes in the class and he uses that explosiveness as a downhill attacker and slasher in transition offense. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has elite vertical athleticism that allows him to elevate and finish over the top of rim protectors on half-court drives or in open court situations. Patton's development on the perimeter is the next step and he is one of the key pieces of Centennial's future.
