High school programs across the Southland are either preparing for a potential playoff run or regrouping for next season as league play has officially come to a close. With a full regular season of viewing in the books, we were able to see some of the best freshmen in the region and develop a 50 prospect watchlist for the class of 2028. Below we break down some of the best freshmen guards we've watched at some point this fall and winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750226' first='Austin' last='Kirksey'] | Bishop Montgomery

Kirksey has an intriguing combination of scoring ability and high IQ that he mixes into being a prospect who can go get a bucket and run the show depending on what his team needs from him. The 6-foot-1 guard has great feel and court awareness both on and off the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750211' first='Cameron' last='Anderson'] | Eastvale Roosevelt

Anderson's strength is his ability to impact the game without the ball. He's a great cutter and savvy finisher at the rim, has a knack for the ball on the offensive boards and in passing lanes and has shown a high defensive IQ that allows him to guard multiple positions. Look for Anderson to make a big jump in statistical categories once his role increases next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750207' first='Charlie' last='Adams'] | St. Bonaventure

Adams is one of the best pure scorers in the class. The 6-foot guard is averaging just under 20 points per game this season and can get baskets in a variety of ways with his feel for the game. Adams is a shifty driver and creator off the bounce and crafty finisher around the basket, uses hesitations, changes of speed and pivots and shot fakes to score at the rim. Adams is also a smooth perimeter shooter who can knock down mid-range and three-point jumpers off the catch and off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2763282' first='Jace' last='Jones'] | Leuzinger

Jones is up near the top of the list among best pure shooters in SoCal's 2028 class. The 5-foot-10 guard is a confident three-point shooter off the catch whose deep range and quick release make him a highly effective floor spacer. Jones averaged 6.9 points per game during his freshman season for the Olympians.

[player_tooltip player_id='2746605' first='Jaizahn' last='Lewis'] | Murrieta Valley

When you talk dynamic speed and playmaking ability in the 2028 class, Lewis has to be in that conversation. The 5-foot-9 point guard has impressive speed with the ball in transition and is a crafty finisher around the rim despite a lack of size. Lewis also has great feel, vision and patience when getting in the lane and creating for himself or others.
