After watching Archbishop Riordan handle Bellarmine College Prep in San Francisco on Saturday. PH NorCal headed across the Bay Bridge for our second game of the day. Acalanes 18-5, 8-1, defeated Benicia 12-11, 5-4 to stay tied for tops in the suddenly competitive Diablo League.

Game Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2724275' first='Maddox' last='Malm'] 6'8 2025 Unsigned G/F, Acalanes: He's a newcomer that we missed in the last rankings update. He's a point forward with good ball handling, and passing skills standing 6'8. He starts the offense in half-court sets often. He'll get his rebound, handles in transition using long strides, looking to pass or go all the way. He spots up for 3-pointers, uses long strides with one or two dribbles, and a crossover from the high post, and perimeter to get closer to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2724278' first='Brady' last='Quinn'] 6'0 2025 Unsigned Guard, Acalanes: A newcomer. He's a hard playing guard that likes to play fast, he's fast pushing it up in transition. He can run the team in half-court sets. If he's not driving hard into the paint challenging shot blockers, he'll kick it out to open shooter, if he has a good look he won't hesitate to put up an open 3-point shot.

Ian Salman 6'5 2025 Unsigned, G/F, Acalanes: He's a versatile prospect with a skill set that allows him to play on the perimeter, and get things done inside. He's a hard driver from the sides into, and across the lanes looking to hit paint jumpers, or challenge shot blockers. He spots up well for corner, catch and shoot 3's. He's goes hard in transition filling lanes, and finishing strong at the rim. At 6'5 he'll help rebound.

[player_tooltip player_id='2520878' first='Ryder' last='Malm'] 6'9 2026 Center, Acalanes: He'll have to get stronger, nevertheless he's a legitimate NorCal big with a nice frame, and an improving skill set that should start to attract college coaches. He's an excellent passer from the hi and lost post, regularly spotting cutters to the basket from different angles. He can be a target, and go to guy in the post, he'll get tap ins. He's an alert defender that can have presence in the paint. He'll rebound and block a few. We've seen him take and make 3's.

[player_tooltip player_id='2520880' first='Gavin' last='Dodge'] 6'5 2026 G/W/F, Acalanes: He's a good size prospect with an improving skill set. He can handle along the perimeter looking to drive or move it along, he's a good passer, ball mover. He can turn the corner with hard dribbles going to the basket, or attacking from the baseline, planting, balancing himself and handling contact. He has a good 3-point shot he can hit along the perimeters. He'll help with the team rebounding.

[player_tooltip player_id='2615774' first='Zach' last='Barnes'] 5'11 2026 Guard, Benicia: He's listed as a point guard, nevertheless he's a guard that can put points on the board. Barnes standouts out when he's aggressively looking to put points on the board in different ways. He has the slick handles to create shots from different angles. Lets be clear he has vision and delivered nice passes throughout the game. He dropped difficult short corner jumpers, he used spins move, change of direction and other moves to get the defender off balance while going to the basket. He hit a few step back mid-range jumpers, he'll drop 3's roaming the perimeter or coming down in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2406862' first='Ayden' last='Thompson'] 6'7 2025 PF, Unsigned, Benicia: We're seeing an improved Thompson. Standing 6'7 he's showing us he can get buckets consistently in the paint using his strength and improved foot work. He has to continue on this path. The lefty post moves included turnaround jumpers, jump hooks, going up strong off two feet, and a dunk or two at the rim. He's going to get rebounds at a good rate, running the court better, and showing balance defending his position. He's a double, double guy at this level.
