With league play coming to a close across Southern California and playoffs getting ready to begin, we wanted to take a closer look at some of the available prospects who will be competing into February. Below we take a closer look at unsigned guards who are ranked in our 2025 Top 60.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630638' first='Ashton' last='McCullough'] | Oak Hills

McCullough is a smooth, high IQ decision-maker whose ability to run the point guard position as the extension of his coach is his most valuable attribute. The 6-foot-3 senior plays with great pace in transition, doesn't over-handle or force bad shots and has great feel for organizing his team in half-court offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119934' first='Jayden' last='Smoot'] | Rancho Christian

Smoot is one of the most dynamic athletes left on the board in 2025. The explosive 6-foot-3 lefty is tough to stop when he gets downhill in transition as his combination of vertical athleticism and a strong frame allows him to elevate and finish through contact. Smoot has also showed great timing and feel for cutting within his team's half-court offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119941' first='Jaiden' last='Agbo'] | Rancho Christian

Agbo fits in to the "scoring point guard" mold where he is a primary ball-handler who can initiate and create offense for teammates but he is best when getting a bucket for himself. The 6-foot-1 senior has great burst in transition and half-court which allows him to get by his initial defender and put pressure on the rim. Agbo has a consistent mid-range pull-up jumper he can go to but is also a savvy finisher around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2404086' first='Donald' last='Thompson'] | Washington Prep

Thompson is a shifty isolation creator and scorer who uses his ball handling and change of speeds to get defenders off-balance and into the lane where he can score with a mid-range jumper or floater or a crafty layup at the rim. Thompson's feel as a wiry 6-foot-2 combo guard makes me a believer in his immense upside as a prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1896224' first='Jaden' last='Erami'] | St. Pius X-St. Matthias

Erami isn't the most glamorous unsigned prospect left in SoCal because he's not your prototypical basketball "athlete" but his feel for the game is among the best in the region regardless of class. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is as versatile as they come on the offensive end with his ability to knock down three's, hit mid-range jumpers and score in the post with a variety of moves, great footwork and soft touch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630668' first='Denis' last='Woods'] | Bishop Montgomery

The best way to describe Woods' game is "steady." The 6-foot-2 point guard comes from a program where hard coaching and discipline are still an expectation, so the intensity of next-level practices and games will come as second nature to him. Woods is a high IQ game-manager who can knock down open shots and defend in positional and team defensive schemes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2420598' first='Patrick' last='O'Brien'] | Cathedral Catholic

The first thing that stands out about O'Brien is his positional size. The San Diego-based senior is a legitimate 6-feet-5 with a strong frame that allows him to overpower the smaller defenders usually matched to him. O'Brien isn't the quickest or most explosive of athletes but he knows how to use his body, footwork and simplicity off the bounce to get to his spots where he can score or distribute.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119930' first='Jacob' last='De Armas'] | Mira Costa

De Armas is a swiss army knife type of guard in his ability to impact every facet of the game. The 6-foot-3 senior is a slasher and finisher in half-court and transition offense and can get downhill to his right hand and finish at the rim. De Armas does a lot of the "glue guy" stuff, as well like defend multiple positions and rebound out of his area on both ends of the floor.
