PrepHoopsTN: Hello. How is your basketball life going?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : Pretty good. We had practice today. We play Page tomorrow. They got us the first time around, when we played them earlier in the season. Trying to learn from the mistakes we made last time. We beat Summit. Nice to get back in the win column.

PrepHoopsTN: How was the Summit game?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : I had 22 and hit 6 3's. Overall, we had more energy. We were more prepared.

PrepHoopsTN: When you and Daniel Patton Daniel Patton 6'7" | SF Cypress Falls | 2026 TX starred as sophomores it was likely kind of a new experience for you. By now you have been in these battles, seen a lot of D10 basketball. Why is Centennial not getting the results you want? With the Summit win as an exception.
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : Before district play, we were having good success. I think it comes down to preparation. Last year we had more talented guys and more experienced guys, but we prepared a whole lot better last year, from the player perspective. Coaches are similar. I thought we had more guys that watched film more and took practices more seriously. I think we are getting better with having guys more focused. Early one that was kind of a problem.

MEDIA: What is it like having expectations on your team this year?
Daniel Patton Daniel Patton 6'7" | SF Cypress Falls | 2026 TX : I think it is great knowing that we have an expectation on our shoulders. Especially me, Carter, and Ryland. Really the only guys with varsity experience coming into the season other than the seniors obviously. For me, it is making it past that first game. This year I was to do everything I can to help my team win. Set them up for open shots. I want to help them be great. Not even as a basketball player, but as an individual, as well. - Preseason Media Day

PrepHoopsTN: How tall are you? What is your weight now?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : 6'4". 180-185.

PrepHoopsTN: Are you in frequent contact with any college coaches?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : Not too consistently right now.

PrepHoopsTN: What aspects of your game are you most proud of, as far as development?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : Definitely still shooting ability. This junior season I have improved my rebounding a lot. I had a double-double earlier in the year. In general, my offensive and defensive rebounding has improved a lot. Against Summit I had 7 rebounds, I am pretty sure.

PrepHoopsTN: Surprise players. Anybody that has surprised you, or maybe impressed you so far?
Carter Ezell Carter Ezell 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2026 State TN : Obviously, Daniel and Ryland have been really good this year. That was not a surprise. Guys like Kani Johnson. He brings a lot of energy. Football guy. He plays really hard and is really tough.
