5 Programs To Watch In The Tarkanian Classic, SOME OF VEGAS BEST!
As Christmas break approach, many high school teams around the country are competing in Holiday Tournaments. Las Vegas host one of the more prestigious Tournaments in the country.
The Tarkanian Classic gets underway on Wednesday, with a slate of games taking place. Las Vegas is the place to be during this time of year.
They’re are five teams from Las Vegas that you need to watch, they are very competitive and ranked in the top 10 in Las Vegas.
Here’s a breakdown of the 5 teams:
1.7-0 Clark High, This program come in with a well-oiled machine. They are a very balanced team that can get big time production from any one of their Big 5. Ballislife FAB Top 50, they come in as the 24th ranked team. Coach Chad Beeten has one of the top Jr’s in the state, that is playing at a high level. 6’6″ Jalen Hill is a wing that can defend all 5 positions. He will make it tough for opposing teams with his size and length. 6’5″ PG Greg Foster is one of the better guards in the class of 2018 in Las Vegas. He is a commit to Gonzaga. A very solid player that does not make a lot of mistakes. 6-5 SG Trey Woodbury is one of the toughest players in Las Vegas. He can pull up from anywhere on the floor.
2. 9-0 Faith Lutheran is returning 10 players from last year’s team. There are a veteran team that is coach well, and play together. 6’1″ Senior PG Jalen Fox is a player that is composed, and can run a team under control. His senior leadership will be a tough out for many teams. The heart and soul to this team is 6’4″ two-sport athlete Elijah Kothe, this young man just make plays.
3. 5-0 Foothill is built around their point guards. 6’3″ PG Marvin Coleman is one of the top point guards in the 2018 class here in Vegas. He is the heart and soul of his team, his leadership will be everything in this tournament. 6’5″ SG Jace Roquemore is quickly becoming a household name here in the city. He has a great shooting touch and can pull up from anywhere on the floor. Defense is key to this team’s success.
4. 5-1 Bishop Gorman is not like most programs in the city. They play a very tough pre-season schedule to prepare them for tournaments like this. 6’5″ WF Jamal Bey is a versatile wing that can do multiple things on the floor. He is a seasoned veteran that brings leadership to a young team. We will find out a lot about this team in this tournament.
5. 10-2 Arbor View this is my sleeper they are very athletic. 11 lettermen return to a team that has sizes and quickest. They have one of the top SG in the city 2020 6’3″ Donovan Yap. We will find out if this program is for real.
