Ansong looks to have a productive spring/summer heading into his junior season as an undersized big who continues to flash some perimeter skill. The ball handling and play creation are still a work in progress, but he’s growing as a threat to bury shots from outside when left open as he did regularly in yesterday’s scrimmages from the corners. Ansong will earn his keep on the defensive end as he can guard up and down a position with his combination of size and strength. He impacts the glass and when he’s feeling springy, can go rip a few at their peak among the trees.

Ansong put his name on my radar with his play at the Expo late last month and followed up with a dominant double-double performance on Saturday despite Walkersville coming up short against Fallston. Athletic, 6-foot-4 wing prospect with ill intentions when he has a head of steam going towards the rim. With a clear lane for takeoff, Ansong is able to rise up and punch thunderous dunks through defenders, but when he isn’t finishing above the rim, he’s creating contact while airborne with body control to finish through it. His strong frame allows him to guard up a position and as his flexibility improves, his athleticism and quickness should make him an even more versatile defender to matchup against shifty guards.
