PG [player_tooltip player_id='1381415' first='Trey' last='McKowen'] (Kennedy)

We've come to know what to expect from McKowen, and he didn't disappoint in a narrow road loss at #1 Cedar Falls last week, dropping 25 points with 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals. A tough guard who is a gifted shot maker, he's playing with an abundance of confidence as a senior, and his constant start-and-stop with the ball in his hands is really difficult for opposing guards to contend with. He has tremendous feel for the game, scores from everywhere, and is a gamer who doesn't shy away from the big moments.

PF [player_tooltip player_id='1381406' first='Landon' last='Deiters'] (Kennedy)

Last Tuesday against Cedar Falls was the best that I've seen Deiters play, either on the grassroots circuit or with Kennedy. A big 6-6 forward with soft hands, he has put a lot of work into his body, and it shows. He looks huge, in a good way, and he does a nice job using that physicality to control the painted area on both ends of the floor. He had 14 points on 4-5 shooting (1-2 3P, 5-6 FT), 6 rebounds, and a block against the Tigers. He's a defensive anchor who can protect the paint and he does a great job communicating on that end of the floor.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='1199979' first='Anthony' last='Galvin'] (Cedar Falls)

It's really too bad that nobody is going to get Galvin on the hardwood at the next level after he committed to golf at Northern Iowa, because he would help a Division II team as early as next season. A highly intelligent guard who really understands the game, he never gets sped up with the ball in his hands and does a great job getting his teammates involved. He's a really good shooter both off the dribble and the catch with a quick release and unlimited range. He had 14 points on 5-9 shooting (4-7 3P) with 4 assists and 2 steals in the Tigers' win over Kennedy.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='1759953' first='Keegan' last='Steege'] (Cedar Falls)

On a team loaded with talented offensive players, Steege needs to find a way to contribute and he does so by being a stellar defender and knockdown shooter, both of which were on full display against Kennedy. He had 14 points on 5-7 shooting (3-4 3P) with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. He moves his feet extremely well and positions himself on the defensive end.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='1759936' first='Carson' last='Hoogeveen'] (West Lyon)

Another high IQ guard who does a great job playing with or without the ball in his hands, Hoogeveen was really good in the Wildcats' win over St. Mary's, scoring 17 points on 6-13 shooting (4-10 3P) with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. He sees the floor really well, has tight handles, and plays with pace, understanding when he needs to change speeds to get by the defender. He settled for 3s a few too many times given how well he can play downhill and get to the rim, but he had a strong all-around showing against one of the best small-school defensive teams in the state.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1484415' first='DeAndre' last='Smith'] (Davenport North)

Smith was outstanding in the Wildcats' road win over North Scott on Friday night, scoring 30 points on 8-12 shooting (2-4 3P, 12-12 FT) with 7 rebounds (5 offensive), 2 assists, and 2 steals. An athletic wing who can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, he also showed a willingness to post up smaller defenders and bully them on the block. His confidence from the 3-point line has improved and he shot it from deep well, using the threat of his shot to open up the rest of his arsenal. A good athlete with a great second jump that he uses to compete on the glass, he has a nose for the ball and doesn't back down from anyone on the glass.
