All Met Candidate: Brandon Slater
In this series, we will take an up close look at 10 First Team All-Met candidates in the DMV. With all things being considered, our prediction covers three categories: individual production, team performance, and level of competition. We will release one candidate each day, with the players organized in alphabetical order by last name. Here, we profile Paul VI 2018 wing Brandon Slater.
PRODUCTION
Slater doesn’t need to score a lot to impact games, but he should certainly have his fair share of scoring outbursts. We’ve seen him have some of his biggest games against top level competition over the years, so why should this season be any different?
PERFORMANCE
Many have tabbed PVI as the top team in the area heading into the season. The Panthers, who lose four year varsity point guard Aaron Thompson, will have to prove themselves this season in order for Slater to be considered for this award.
COMPETITION
One thing we’ve known about Paul VI over the years is that they will play anyone, anywhere. Head Coach Glenn Farello tests his team with a national schedule each year, and that’s what he’ll do again this season. If Slater can help PVI navigate their way through the offseason, and finally lift the WCAC crown, he should be a lock for the All Met First Team.
