Scrimmage Week Off Ball Standouts

The BHS Scrimmage was held at Benicia HS in Benicia, CA. There were 11 varsity teams playing against each other for 20 minute halves. Here are some of the prospects who played well.    He's a muscular player at 6'3, he has good speed and runs the court hard to get transition buckets. He can play along the perimeter with the handles to drive strong to the basket, or he can get buckets around the rim, or coming across the paint balancing himself and powering up. He'll get rebounds for put back points, he lead the break himself. He can defend bigger players in the post.     He showed he could do a little bit of everything which makes him a key player on this team. He has good fundamentals, moves well without the ball screening and cutting. Standing around 6'2 or 3 he's a solid body that can mix it up for rebounds, and score inside. He's an excellent ball handler, has vision, and moves the ball around the court. He had strong drives to the basket, and he dropped 3-pointers.       Hibbert showed us he can be an effective shooter from behind the 3-point line. He sprinted the court, got himself shot ready in the corners, with a good release, he'll have to be accounted for. He can put the ball on the floor, use his body and balance to finish around the rim. He can rebound.     He's a newcomer that will give good minutes, he adds depth and length. He can do some things in the post but looks most comfortable working from the wings, and high post. He's long, moves well, he did some handling and passing along the perimeter. We'll see more.     This was our first time seeing Nealy with his new team. The versatile scoring guard can get buckets, he averaged 17pts per game last season at Pinole Valley. He had intensity, and foot speed on the defensive side. He's still finding his way. He'll be a contributor.     He's a rising prospect in the 2027 class. He'll have his ups and downs as a first year varsity player. He's a good size guard still growing into his body. He has some tools to work with. He can hit pull-up mid-range jumpers, along with open 3's. He didn't force things, made the right reads, moved without the ball. He put up good shots when they were there. He positioned himself on the defensive side of the ball.
