Recruiting Report: Chris Kielman (2018)
With his senior season now upon him, Skyview 6-foot-1 point guard Chris Kielman is hoping he can see an uptick in his currently slow recruitment.
Idaho’s 14th-ranked 2018, Kielman will head into his final high school season with no offers and little interest. But still has these next six months to show why he’s considered a top-15 guy in Idaho’s 2018 class.
“I have no offers, but I’ve been sending film out to some schools. But nothing serious yet. I’m hoping to see that recruitment improve this season, hopefully,” said Kielman.
“Really, the only school I’ve talked to is Pacific Lutheran, but it’s nothing too serious; and that’s about it.”
Kielman went on to mention a couple local programs that he’d like to see reach out to him.
“Some local schools that I’d like to see reach out would be NNU and Idaho,” said Kielman. “I think those are two schools that would be a good fit for me.”
A true point guard with a pass-first mentality, Kielman says his main objective is always to get his guys involved.
“I’m the point guard, so I try and control the game with a lot of ball-movement. I look to get guys open first, and then I’ll look to score. And we have a lot of shooters on our team, so that makes it easier,” said Kielman.
After spending his spring and summer with Uptempo 17U and playing summer ball with Skyview, he had plenty of time to improve — especially on his jumper.
“It went real well. One of my main struggles was shooting throughout my junior year, so that’s something I worked real hard to improve on,” said Kielman.
“With our high school team, we had a lot of JV guys come up, so it was nice to play with them and build that team chemistry.”
And now, as he heads into his second season as the Hawks’ starting point guard. He’ll look to be more of a leader, and to improve upon his 10 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game from a season ago.
“One of the main goals is to just become more of a leader on the team because we had a lot of seniors graduate that were vocal leaders,” said Kielman. “So that’s what I definitely want to step up and do this season.”
