This summer put multiple incoming freshmen onto the scene thanks to their stellar performance throughout the AAU season. These five players are a few of the standout prospects that were the most impressive.

[player_tooltip player_id='2408566' first='Carter' last='Coleman'] was one of, if not the, best prospects that I got the chance to cover this summer. He has great size and athleticism for his age and consistently plays with a high motor. His long strides help him to get into the lane with ease and finishes with nice touch around the rim. In transition, Coleman runs the floor quickly and was able to finish through and over defenders. He also has a well-refined jumper which makes him a three-level threat. Heading into his freshman year at Oklahoma Christian Academy, Carter looks to continue his impressive individual run while leading his team to a bounce back season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2444761' first='Devion' last='Gillispie'] had a high-impact summer as one of the best guards that I had the chance to cover. He is a do-it-all lead guard and one of the more impressive floor generals in the 2028 class within Oklahoma. Staying aggressive for the full length of the court on both offense and defense, Gillispie keeps his opponents on their toes. His ability to keep defenders at a distance while bringing the ball was consistent throughout the summer was extremely impressive. Regardless of the intensity of the defender, Devion never got rushed and was able to play at his own pace throughout the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2399339' first='Isaiah' last='Nelson'] was one of the higher IQ guards that I had the opportunity to cover this summer. He is a great leader on the court and communicates well to make his teammates' games much easier. His ability to get into the paint before dropping the ball off to his bigs helped Isaiah to lead JEB Elite to a very successful summer. While I was most impressed with his ability to set the table for others, his quick decision making also allowed him to get easy looks within the paint. He did not back down from taking big shots and was able to control late games frequently.

While I was only able to cover [player_tooltip player_id='2381834' first='TJ' last='Newton'] twice this summer, his game was extremely eye-catching at both events. He knocks down threes from anywhere past half-court and is just as consistent off of pull-ups as he is with catch-and-shoot opportunities. TJ has a tight handle and create separation as well as get by defenders with ease. He's a pesky defender who consistently disrupts ball-handlers and jumps passing lanes to create transition opportunities. Heading into his freshman season at Edmond Sante Fe, TJ should have a solid opportunity to contribute early.

Slade Black was one of the most exciting wings to cover this summer as he impacts both ends of the court with ease. He can score from all three levels but impressed me the most with his ability to finish with aggression at the rim. He is a solid vertical athlete and through down several big dunks against tough competition. Playing both inside and along the perimeter will undoubtably help prepare him for high school competition as he continues to build on his well-developed game. As Slade works his way back to the court after suffering a leg injury late into the summer, he will definitely be a name to monitor over the next four years.
