Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1951827' first='Carter' last='Gruver'] (Woodbine)

Woodbine is going to be a pretty overwhelming favorite in the Rolling Valley this season, and Gruver is one of the biggest reasons why. He impacts the game in a major way on both ends of the floor.

First Team

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1951827' first='Carter' last='Gruver'] (Woodbine): 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.6 steals, 78.6 FT%

A big-time scorer, playmaker, and defender, Gruver led the Tigers in scoring, assists, and steals as a junior while leading them to the 1A state tournament. They bring back nearly everyone from that team and should be considered one of a small group of true contenders in the class.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1977076' first='Landon' last='Blum'] (Woodbine): 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.3 steals

Blum is one of the top players in the state's 2027 class, a rarity from a small school. But he's an eye-popping athlete with great size and length on the perimeter, and as he showed at the state tournament in March, he's a dynamic scoring threat who can take over a game in the blink of an eye. Expect to see him have a dominant sophomore year.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765521' first='Cal' last='Heydon'] (Coon Rapids-Bayard): 20.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals, 1.1 blocks, 53.9 FG%, 40.9 3P%

Heydon has been one of the most productive players in the state in the 2026 class since he stepped foot on the court as a freshman. A wing with good size and length, he does a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor for the Crusaders, scoring from all three levels with efficiency, controlling the glass, and defending multiple spots.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2754681' first='Trevon' last='Keely'] (Paton-Churdan): 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.5 steals

The Rockets won just one game last season, but Keely was impressive as a freshman, leading the team in every major category. He's a good athlete who does a great job on the glass on both ends of the floor.

2025 Jonathan Bergmeier (Glidden-Ralston): 15.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals

Bergmeier was a standout for the Wildcats as a junior, the only player to average in double digits while also dishing out 2.5 helpers per game. He's at his best when he's playing downhill and attacking the rim or getting to the free-throw line.
