Zero Gravity Live Finale: Friday Standouts Part Two

The ZG Live Finale is underway at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA, with games tipping off on Friday afternoon. There's plenty of talent in the gym at the high school level, and a good number of college coaches in attendance as well. With five courts playing at all times, it's impossible to see every team and player. With that being said, here is part two of my Friday standouts! Further coverage will extend through the weekend and into Monday!    Lumia was living in the paint all day. His ultra-quick first step allows him to blow by his initial defender and then he makes excellent decisions once he gets to the nail. Really high-level passer with supreme unselfishness. Can knock down the outside shot but definitely prefers to use his quickness to get to his spots. I would imagine Lumia will make a great high-academic prospect at a D3 school, especially a NESCAC, and he'll make a great teammate because he always makes the kick-ahead pass even if it won't get him an assist.     Labrecque is undersized and far from the best athlete in the gym, but boy can he stroke it from three. He's got a lightning-quick release and fundamentally-sound footwork, which makes him an excellent role-player shooter; don't be fooled by his unique-looking shot, because he gets it off quickly and with amazing accuracy. Labrecque was also able to find the open man when the defense overplayed his shot. I could imagine his shooting and passing alone leading to a spot on a D3 roster.     Gill was flame throwing all day from three. He has a great understanding of how to move without the ball, and he's got a nice-looking release once the ball is swung to him. He also showed a solid ability to drive the closeout and find open teammates for shots once the defense started playing him for his shooting. I could imagine Gill being a great D3 fit somewhere, and he could even play at a higher level if he develops his on-ball creation ability.     Johnston is a special shooter. Off the catch. Off the dribble. Hand in his face. It doesn't matter. He's got a funky looking shot but he can hit it off-balance, too. Johnston is homeschooled but plays for Burncoat High School in Worcester, MA and Our Basketball Family for AAU. If he continues to grow and get more comfortable with the ball in his hands, the sky's the limit for him. Right now, though, I would slot him as a D3 shooter who can certainly space the floor for some on-ball creators.     Chase is a knockdown three-point shooter. He's got a picture-perfect release from downtown and can move really well without the ball. He hit two clutch free throws on Friday to ice a game for Team Sims, and he's their clear go-to scorer. He'll also throw his body around in the paint and crash the glass, showcasing solid toughness and fight. Definite D3 prospect who could be very exciting if he continues to grow and get stronger. He has solid skills on the ball but not enough weight to throw around. This will be a big year for him.     Innocent is a textbook on-ball creator. He has quick, controlled dribble moves and uses his off-hand very well to blow by defenders. He's also an athletic finisher in the paint and can use both hands effectively. His outside shot is a work in progress but the fundamentals are there, and he's got a lot of time to shore up his shot. I would imagine Innocent will get scholarship-level looks, especially once he continues to grow and improve his off-ball chops.
