Kenneth (Tre) Simmons
About Kenneth
Expert Analysis
Paul Hernandez | Prep Hoops Scout
The 6-foot-5 lead guard has a strong build, plays with good pace and change of direction to keep the defense guessing, and can make plays for others or get his own buckets. Simmons had a strong outing in the Championship Game against host team Clovis North, as he would lead the Trojans in scoring with 19 points. Simmons has a strong handle on the ball, keeps the dribble alive to survey the floor, has a good burst off the bounce to get paint touches, and has the physical build to absorb and score through contact when attacking the basket. Simmons is effective with the jumper from the mid-range to the 3-point line off the dribble, moves fluidly off the ball to get open looks off the catch, is a great positional rebounder, and has the court vision and decision making to find players up the court in transition, as well as finding teammates off the drive and kick pass or the pick and roll action. Defensively, Simmons, a good athlete, has the foot speed to stay in front of perimeter players, active hands to create turnovers, and the strength and size to switch off and hold his own against taller players in the post. A lot to like about Simmons’ game and he is only a sophomore.

Tre Simmons | 6’4 CG | Lincoln High | 2028
Simmons brings size, skill, and control to the guard position. He finishes strong through contact, creates space with ease and consistently gets high-percentage looks. His rebounding from the guard spot adds another layer to his impact. What sets him apart is his ability to post up—he takes advantage of smaller guards below the free-throw line, scoring at will. Simmons plays at his own pace, never letting defenders speed him up.
After completing just his freshmen year, Tre Simmons already has a D-1 offer, he will see more flowing in as year 2 gets on its way.

Simmons struggled a bit in the game we watched, good players adjust and bounce back, he did that. He’s a big guard that handles, has good court vision to find cutters going towards the basket. He has strength and size to effectively get points in the paint when he moves off ball. He’ll get rebounds, and defend multiple position.

Tre is looking more and more like a point forward at the 15U Level. He spent a lot of time initiating the offense, handling up top, and looking for assists, pushing and looking to pass up in transition. He has the vision of a point guard, the body of a forward at this level. He can go inside to bang the boards for rebounds, and get his points. He’ll drive into the paint, hit the paint jumper. He has 3-point range. He could develop into a solid big guard.

A solid body prospect, already having impact, starting or coming off the bench. He’s showing a versatile style of play that allows him to contribute on both ends of the court. He defends multiple positions, helps rebound, and defend inside. Standing 6’4 he can handle the ball up top and on the sides using his dribble to get closer to finish around the basket. He’s a willing passer with the vision to find open mates.
