The 2024 Francis Marion University Team Camp was held on Friday, June 14th, and Saturday, June 15th. I was very excited to get out of the Upstate for the weekend and check out some teams and prospects from the Midlands, Pee Dee, and Lowcountry that I otherwise would not have. Check out these six Forwards and Big Men who stood out from the weekend in Florence:
Jackson Robinson Jackson Robinson 6'8" | SF South Florence | 2025 State SC is an intriguing forward who had a very effective performance for the Bruins versus Cathedral Academy. He was at his best working around the paint on the offensive end. Jackson showed off his post game with his back to the basket or facing up, while also using his length finishing over defenders or working on the offensive glass. He runs the floor well in transition and had a highlight play on a breakaway dunk. On the other end of the floor, Robinson is versatile in his ability to guard multiple positions or use his size to protect the rim and clean the glass. Jackson put up 14 Points and 5 Rebounds in Saturday’s win.

I was really impressed with Louder both days in Florence this weekend. He has a strong frame and can score inside or out, but his activity on the offensive glass was one of his most impressive attributes. He worked hard to clean up misses and earn second chances for his team. Noah is solid as a screener and can roll or pop to the mid-range or behind the arc. Although he is not the most athletic forward around, his all-around skillset and positioning help mask that. I watched 3 North Myrtle Beach games between the two days, and Louder was particularly effective with 13 Points and 6 Rebounds vs Darlington and 15 Points and 5 Rebounds against Kingstree.

Jamie is one of the top bigs in the entire state and he had a strong showing in Florence Friday. He is a long player who has lots of athleticism and is good around the rim on both ends of the floor. Brooks has the makeup of a rim-running and rim-protecting big man – someone you can throw it up to on lobs and block shots at a high rate. Although he showed some flashes of being able to create off the dribble, that is something he still has room to develop before heading off to the next level after this season. Jamie went for 12 Points, 2 Steals, and 2 Blocks in an impressive win for the Aramada over Andrew Jackson.

Jermon Butler
Jermon Butler
The Darlington Falcons have a big hole in their roster after last season’s departures, but the development of Jermon Butler is something that they should be excited about. While he still appears to be a little raw physically, Butler is a great defender and showed some positives on the offensive end as well. Butler both intimidates and blocks shots in the paint and will rebound and push the ball himself. Jermon knocked down a three pointer in each of the games I watched Darlington this weekend, but something he did more consistently was finish around the basket – with either hand and through contact. In a win over Kingstree, he finished with 9 Points, 6 Rebounds, and 4 Blocks.
Jari Ford
Jari Ford
Ford might not be your prototype big man from a size or athleticism standpoint, but he is just a solid basketball player. He was dominant in Georgetown’s matchup with Cheraw, displaying his old-fashioned skill set with great fundamentals and a knack for scoring in the paint. Jari went for 25 Points, 8 Rebounds, and 4 Assists in the win over the Braves, creating a scoring chance just about every time he had the ball in his hands. Ford has great feet and seems to have the game moving at half the speed of anyone else off the floor. Jari has a good handle and knocked down an outside shot, which could add a wrinkle to his offense if his matchup has a taller rim protector.
