The Dakota State University team camp featured a few high-end prospects that Prep Hoops Dakotas is very familiar with. We also discovered some new talent. There was a total of five varsity teams, including Sioux Valley, Madison, Howard, Tri-Valley, and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland.

[player_tooltip player_id='1263164' first='Maverick' last='Nelson'] | 6'3 SG | 2025 | Sioux Valley

Maverick will be counted on heavily in the scoring department for Sioux Valley if they want to beat good teams. He will need some big playmaking games. This was made even more evident after watching them at Dakota State. He was aggressive to score, by attacking and shooting the three. He also made some legitimate passes for dimes. He's not an explosive athlete, but he has size and can get to where he needs to get to.

[player_tooltip player_id='1263162' first='Ben' last='Brooks'] | 6'9” Wing/F | 2025 | Madison

I thought Brooks' defense stood out to me. He wasn't letting anything past him on the drive and clearly affected the game on that end with his length. As always, he showed a nice offensive skill set at 6'9” with a smooth stroke from three.

[player_tooltip player_id='1503843' first='Luke' last='Koepsell'] | 6'4” F | 2025 | Howard

Koepsell had a great game versus Tri-Valley. Scoring in the interior and clearing the boards. He was at the foul line often in that matchup. A big and physical 6'4” forward with a football player's build and mindset.

[player_tooltip player_id='2461768' first='Boyd' last='Pooler'] | 5'10” PG | 2027 | Oldham-Ramona-Rutland

Pooler was the surprise of the camp and was the most valuable player to his team out of all the players at the camp. He led his team to a major upset win over Madison. Handled the ball and handled the bulk of the scoring and playmaking.

[player_tooltip player_id='2277838' first='Alex' last='Wingen'] | 5'11” G | 2025 | Tri-Valley

Wingen played fast and gave 100% effort. He most definitely emptied the tank. Handled the ball at speed from the point and was a tenacious defender. Scored through contact. Tough player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2338066' first='Tristen' last='Bunde'] | 6'2” G | 2026 | Tri-Valley

Bunde has some length to him as a 6'2” slender guard. His build allows him to move well. Can go off the bounce and get to the hoop with athleticism. His ranking will drastically change in the right direction in the SD 2026 rankings update on Monday.

[player_tooltip player_id='2461797' first='Carson' last='Hinker'] | 6'2” G | 2025 | Howard

Hinker was a consistent playmaker for Howard at the camp. A non-flashy guard that has good size from the guard spot. I remember him being tough on the boards and a strong finisher inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1959415' first='AJ' last='Rodriguez'] | 6'1” PG | 2026 | Madison

I had Rodriguez moved up the rankings board prior to the camp, and he solidified, if not raised his stock even more. He was probably a top-3 shot-blocker at the camp. He was challenging at the rim with bounce and hang time. A kid that can get up and dunk, no problem. That's at 6'1”. An offense creator with the ball in his hands. Opens things up with his handle and shiftiness.

[player_tooltip player_id='1641206' first='Shane' last='Veenhof'] | 5'11 G | 2026 | Madison

Veenhof is a guard with some elite quickness, speed, and explosiveness. Plays fast up and down and will sky high for a board and immediately turn up-court to push in transition. Elite verticality. He was highly dynamic and made a bunch of plays. Made layup finishes and knocked-down jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1811874' first='Myles' last='Schneider'] | 6'2”-6'3” Wing | 2026 | Madison

Myles had an outstanding game against Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. He was making plays on both ends, getting steals into transition finishes on the other end. Had an emphatic block that soared into the stands. Got to the middle of the lane offensively and was making an impact. He made his presence felt.
