While there were some prospects to make a huge leap (KJ Neville and Tarecous Stevens), there are some prospects outside of the top 45 that have earned a right to be in the conversation of being ranked a lot higher.
Here are 5 notable prospects:
Maguire Evans, Cleveland/Hawks Elite: Evans is currently No. 69. But, I will be honest here. He’s better than his position. Evans has been having a productive AAU season. He shoots the basketball at a high clip. Evans moves well without the basketball. He’s a team player, vocal on the court and plays hard on both ends. Evans hasn’t missed a beat since his junior season at Cleveland (14.8 points). And there have been plenty of programs inquiring about him.
JaDyn Lee, Munford: Lee moved up eight spots to No. 49. The rising senior led the Cougars to a 23-5 record while averaging 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Lee shot 48.7 percent from the field. He’s one of the best scoring guards in this class. Lee can score from different areas on the court. His recruitment has seen a spike this AAU season with Boom City Elite. Lee has heard from Radford, Union, Lehigh, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Mount St. Mary’s.
Kaleb Jeffries, Houston: Jeffries is another scoring guard that’s been having a productive AAU season with P7. He sits at No. 67. Jeffries has value as a combo guard. When he’s on the ball, Jeffries is a legit threat in pick-and-roll situations because of his ability to make shots. If he’s off the ball, Jeffries provides spacing and defenders have to know his whereabouts at all times.
Tyrese Stovall, Bradley Central: Stovall made his way into the top 100 at No. 86. His stock has been rising during the AAU season with Hawks Elite. At 6-foot-8, Stovall can guard multiple positions. He can play on the perimeter and in the post. I got a feeling that Stovall’s stock is going to continue to rise.
Gunnar Lewis, CPA: One thing about the state of Tennessee is that it will produce quality guards in each class. Lewis, a 5-11 point guard, is a quality point guard. Smart, tough, and hardworking is the best way to describe Lewis. He comes in at No. 73 and should see a bump thanks to his play this AAU season with the Tennessee Tigers . Lewis can make the right reads and make shots from the perimeter. He can be a pest on defense. That’s always a good thing.
