There isn’t much doubt about who the most dominant player in 1A basketball will be this winter. Severson, who holds 40+ Power 5 football offers, put up 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.0 steals on 63-36-75 shooting splits last season. He’s a big, physical, highly athletic forward who can absolutely dominate games on both ends of the floor on a nightly basis.

was relentless in this game. He went to work routinely in the post and muscled up and through defenders for many buckets. His ability to get low and use his solid frame to bump defenders under the rim proved very difficult for opposing defenders to contain. His soft touch around the basket allowed him to convert many layups, which he converted through contact and around tough angles. His constant post attack required Woodbine to send many doubles in this game, which created advantages for Madrid’s offense, and Jevyn was great at finding his teammates out of these doubles and creating open threes. His interior passing was impressive as well; he was great at drawing two defenders and dumping off passes for easy looks around the rim. His activity on the glass was also very impactful. He brought down many offensive rebounds and converted them on putbacks. He also protected the glass on the other side of the ball with his ability to gain position under the basket. Jevyn was a force defensively as well. He blocked shots and displayed great versatility as a defender, showing an ability to switch onto any position.

dominated this game in the paint. For starters, he was pretty much unguardable in the post. His footwork, physicality, contact balance, and soft touch allowed him to convert many buckets in the paint. He routinely shoved defenders out of the way with his shoulders and powered up and through them for efficient looks. He muscled through defenders like it was nothing, and his touch never wavered in these scenarios. He was also great at getting to his floater down low after flattening opponents, and his relentless post attack allowed him to draw many fouls. He also got to the rim with his speed, fluidity, and ball handling. He displayed a very nice Euro step that created great angles for his layups, and he hit these layups at high speeds as well, and through heaps of contact, leading to multiple high-speed and-1 finishes. He was also great on the glass in this game on both sides of the floor. He converted many second-chance points on the offensive glass, and he was great at grabbing defensive boards and leading the break, where he showed his great playmaking vision. Jevyn threw many impressive skip passes in this game and made very difficult reads at high speeds. He did all of this while anchoring Madrid’s defense.
Severson put up huge numbers as a freshman for the 1A state champion Tigers, averaging 15.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and shooting 66.5% from the floor. He’s one of the most physically imposing players in the state’s 2028 class, a big, physical frame paired with finesse and explosive athleticism. Those same attributes have made him one of the most coveted tight end prospects in the country in the 2028 class, meaning his future likely lies on the gridiron.
