Benson impressed with his scoring pop showing that he can get a bucket in a timely fashion. He has good size at the lead guard spot and uses it to his advantage against smaller defenders. On the defensive end he shows the ability to cover ground with ease due to his quickness. He has good touch from behind the arc and scored from there on numerous occasions. He also showed he could get others the rock.

Benson was another newer name for me at the event, but he quickly caught my attention with his overall play. The ability to play on or off the ball was encouraging and attractive. The 6-3 prospect was an absolute shot-maker with a quick release, not wasting any time and shooting the ball with range and confidence. He got to his spots well, moved without the ball, and captured our attention with his court awareness and vision, facilitating well to other teammates. His competitiveness was obvious when he went head-to-head with London Collins in a back-in-forth affair on a couple of one of one crowd pleasing plays.

Coming off the bench for the Black team in his home gym, Benson wasted no time making his presence felt with a tough pullup jumper on his first touch of the game. It was a sign of things to come as the rangy guard would show off his natural scoring prowess in a double-figure effort. Benson is really tough to stop in 1-on-1 situations when he gets going and will be counted on to step up in the Imhotep rotation now as an upperclassman.
