Expert Analysis
Aaron Proia | Prep Hoops Scout
-One of the top scorers, shooters, and 2-way players at the event–take your pick. Nix turned in a productive weekend while leading DC Assault to a 3-0 record. He showed that he can knock down shots, has the IQ to duck under closeouts to take 1 or 2 dribbles to pull up for a jumper in open gaps in the defense, chipped in on the glass, and was disruptive at the defensive end of the floor as a guard with active hands that could switch 1-3 for his team. Loved that he probed the defense off of middle ball screens or in the short roll and didn’t pound the air out of the ball, as he showed that he was an unselfish playmaker that can read the floor well to hit the open man.

made a leap of exactly 40 spots due to the growth he showed in his game over the course of the last year. He had to do it all at Cannon School this year and proved he was more than capable of living up to the challenge. In his Junior season, Nix averaged 27.4 Points, 7.3 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists, and 2.3 Steals per game on 45/36/85 shooting splits. Nix proved he can be the primary option and maintain great efficiency in the process which is a great sign for a young player. Nix is really good at finding his spots in ball screens situations where he can get to his strong hand at the cup or pull up from anywhere on the floor for a jumper. His steady physical progression has lined up with the way his skillset has come along, leading to Nix really finding his stride as a winner and producer in his junior season. Expect a big summer and senior year from him, the recruting attention is bound to really pick up.

Nix is one of North Carolina’s most productive guards as he plays an incredibly important role for his team but it’s his ability and volume from beyond the three point line that can really shine. Nix is averaging 25.4 Points, 6.7 Rebounds, 2.5 Assists, and 2.2 Steals on 44/36/85 splits. Nix has to do almost everything for his team and they’re off to a really strong 3-1 record in conference play after a loaded non-conference slate. Nix has made 65 threes in 21 games on the season and has maintained a really respectable percentage despite the volume and difficulty of the shots he takes. With many of the other primary contributors at Cannon being underclassmen or juniors alongside Nix, he has to do a lot of different things for this team to win and he’s more than ready for the challenge. Nix has a chance to really establish himself as a gem in this 2027 class.

Nix is a sizeable name already in the 2027 class at 6-foot-3 to keep an eye on with Top Shot Basketball on the UAA stage in the 2027 class. He’s shown he can operate as a ball handler and playmaker already while at Cannon School this season and has shown flashes already of his ability to knock down shots at volume all over the floor.
