PHD: Walk me through your off-season. What did you do to improve your basketball game?
“During the off-season I played AAU with Sanford ND and went to their workouts they put on and I did a lot of training with Sam Kobbervig out of Casselton while playing baseball. I also spent a lot of time lifting and getting shots up every day by either playing runs with teammates or by using the Dr. Dish.“
PHD: What’s one specific part of your game you focused on improving this offseason, and where do you feel like you’ve made the most progress?
“When playing AAU games this spring and summer, I really focused on improving on getting more rebounds and improving on the defensive and by being more physical. I feel if I can do this well, it will only help our team have a successful season. I also focused on improving to get downhill to give myself options like a mid-range shot or finishing at the rim and/or passing to an open teammates, as we have a lot of good players that are very good with the ball in their hands. Getting downhill to create options is where I feel I made the most progress throughout the offseason.“
PHD: What does your fall look like right now? Are you playing another sport, or is it all basketball focused?
“I spend my fall days by lifting either before or after school with a trainer and in the evening my teammates and I often go up to the high school gym to play runs. I also get shots up on the Dr. Dish as much as possible to continue to grow as a shooter. Although my fall is mainly focused on preparing for basketball to get back to the State Championship, I do some training for baseball to get ready for the spring and summer season.“
PHD: What are your goals for the coming season, both individually and for your team?
“My goals for the season as a team are to become back-to-back Region Champs and become State Champs and to also grow with my teammates on and off the court. As an individual player, I hope to become more of a leader on the team and some goals of mine are to help the team however I can by either scoring, rebounding, or on the defensive end.“
PHD: Can you give some insight on an influential coach you have had? What made them memorable?
“Coach Norman comes to my mind right away because he has always believed in me since I’ve been in 8th grade and he is always influencing me as player, student, classmate, and person. Another amazing coach I had was Kirby Krefting of Red River High School, he coached me for the first time in my 14U AAU season and from the first practice to this last AAU season, he has always believed in me and trusted me as a player.“
PHD: Time to give a shout to a teammate…Who do we need to know about from your high school team?
“All of my teammates are amazing, but I feel like one of my best friends,

deserves this shoutout. He is coming off a torn ACL and he was out the whole season last year. In that time, I didn’t hear him complain once; he was constantly doing therapy to heal up and he worked very hard to get cleared and continues to work very hard as a player. I’m very excited to get to play with him again as it’s been too long since we have played together.“
PHD: Who is your favorite player to watch in college or the NBA, and why?
“My favorite player to watch has always been Steph Curry, I have always looked up to him as a player because of the way he shoots the 3 and when he can’t get a 3 he finds other ways to impact the game.“
PHD: Where do you feel like your game has grown the most in the past year or two?
“I feel like my game has grown a ton as a shooter by shooting the ball at a high percentage and by extending my range and I also feel like it has grown a lot by scoring at more levels than just the 3-ball. I also feel like my game has improved a lot when the ball isn’t in my hands by either rebounding, passing, or on the defensive end.“
PHD: Who pushes you the hardest, whether that’s a teammate, a coach, or someone you train with?
“I would say my parents push me the hardest to always be improving as a player on and off the court. I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by amazing teammates, coaches, and family who want the best for me as a player and as a person and who are always pushing me to become the best version of myself.“
PHD: Where is your hot spot on the floor or can you tell us about a “go-to” move you like to use?
“I’d say my hot spot is anywhere along the 3-point line. I feel like I’m at my best when I can play off the catch by either shooting it or getting downhill to create options for me and for my teammates.“
