The Mount Vernon Fortville-Pike game was one of the more star-studded games you will find this season, but an under-the-radar guy that really stood out to me was junior guard Owen Daugherty Owen Daugherty 5'5" Mt. Vernon (Fortville) | 2027 IN . There is no debating it, Daughtery was one of the smaller prospects on the floor, but he did not lack confidence and was not afraid to make a moment happen. In a game that saw a legit 30 threes fall, Daugherty knocked down 4 of them finishing with 12 points in the tough overtime loss. One of the best pure shooters I have seen this season.

This junior guard doesn’t miss many catch-and-shoot three-point shots. He scored 11 points including 3-4 shooting from deep in the Marauders win over Northview at the Hall of Fame Classic. He hit two more triples in their evening game. Then, in Mt. Vernon (Fortville)’s Homestead Holiday Tournament championship win over the host Spartans he connected on four three-point shots for 12 points.

. At a smaller 5’5, Daughtery is averaging 6.8 points for MVF and is holding his own very well this season. He can play both on and off the ball long term but this season, with Ertel being the dominant on-ball guard, Daughtery has been shooting the ball very being a go-to outside threat for them. He competes on the defensive end, as well.

Mount Vernon was dominant in their victory over Lebanon as pretty much everybody who touched the floor for Mount Vernon made an impact. Daughtery was shooting the ball at an extremely high level as it seemed like every time he caught the ball with space it was going up and going in for 3-pointer. That type of confidence as a shooter goes a long way and Daughtery also deflected a couple passes and fought over screens. Impressive showing by the smallest player who saw the floor on Friday night.

Despite being undersized, Owen doesn’t play like it. He hustles on defense and isn’t afraid to crash the glass. I was most impressed with him embracing contact on both ends, which most players his height don’t. The best part of his game is offensively. Daugherty is a solid three-point shooter, he made two in the game I saw and had good-looking misses. I also always appreciate players who play under control and within themselves.

No true individual standout in their game vs Illinois Jaguars . But I saw him do some noteworthy stuff that gauged my attention. Crafty ball-handler and broke past numerous double teams while also letting it fly from outside. He’s only 5’5” right now, but is definitely still growing and is a name to look out for i Indiana’s 2027 class.
