Gore pushes the ball, makes great decisions and breaks down defenses with penetration and quickness. Guards hard on the perimeter as most college programs demand. Gore is a winner and recently led his Bluefield team to a state title two weeks ago. At a solid 6’0″ Gore would be a solid player for any program if not impact immediately.
Highlights
Ashton Gute Ashton Gute 5’7″ | PG Cross Lanes Christian | 2024 State WV is pound for pound one of the best pure point guards in WV. He is all downhill and makes every right decision. We’ve seen him versus high level, 3A and 4A competition in WV and his tempo and energy aren’t deterred or slowed. A pure point guard who looks to distribute and make the right play as well as control tempo. A guard that can score efficiently when asked as well as take on his defensive role as on ball defender at a high level. Gute would be an asset for any program (D2/NAIA/D3/Juco) and a coach’s dream.
Christian Goebel Christian Goebel 6’3″ | SF George Washington | 2024 State WV posted a solid senior season in what is easily the toughest league in WV with the highest concentration of 4A competition. Watching Goebel its safe to say he’s yet to get close to his ceiling as a basketball player. Great size for a wing and great court awareness. We like his finishing ability in transition as well as his athletic ability. Great pick up that would develop into a great small school two way player given his size and athletic ability.
Izrael Everett Izrael Everett 5’11” | CG Morgantown | 2024 State WV is a downtown sniper and multi-skilled guard who’s been part of three state championships at Morgantown High School. Everett was recently named a first team 4A all stater which is as much based on his tenacity on defense as it would be his offensive skills. Everett would help any D3 school immediately and could definitely make D2 rosters.
Jackson Smith Jackson Smith 6’3″ | SG Parkersburg South | 2024 State WV has helped Parkersburg South come to prominence in WV high school basketball the last few years. Anchoring a starting five for the last two including a state runner up finish last season. Jackson is a strong built 6’3″ wing who shoots lights out at 14.5/ppg, 79% FT shooting and over 65 made from beyond the arc. Jackson is a solid two way player who’s excelled throughout the course of one of WV’s toughest regular season schedules. D2/NAIA/D3/Juco should certainly inquire.
Colby Barr Colby Barr 6’6″ | PF Clay-Battelle | 2024 State WV is one of the more interesting small school prospects in WV. Standing at 6’6″ and what seems to be a body ready for college basketball, Barr is very skilled for a prospect who’s had to play with back to the basket. He has great ball handling and passing skills for a big yet is more than comfortable facing the basket especially from mid-range in. Would be an excellent ball-screen player or high post specialist. All small schools should inquire.
Jackson Crouso Jackson Crouso 6’6″ | PF East Fairmont | 2024 State WV is another big with great ball skills. Jackson handles the ball during press break situations, shoots well from midrange, runs rim to rim, as well as crash the boards. A year in a college weight room and he’ll contribute anywhere at D2/NAIA/D3/Juco levels. Crouso is a very high academic student athlete and would likely qualify anywhere.
RJ Hairston RJ Hairston 6’3″ | PF Bluefield | 2024 State WV is a strong wing/forward type player who doesn’t seem to fit any category very well. He’s just a great basketball player. Hairston has several standing football offers but our understanding hasn’t rules out playing basketball quite yet. Hairston is extremely strong and agile in the post with great ability to finish as well as muscle up post players on the defensive end. His body is college basketball ready and he has the athletic ability to play at any of these levels immediately,
D2/NAIA/D3/Juco.
Cole Joy Cole Joy 6’1″ | CG Parkersburg South | 2024 State WV is a fantastic point guard prospect from Parkersburg South. Joy is very athletic and skilled, so skilled he has nearly hit triple-double stats several times this season with points/assists/rebounds. He’s a high energy player who’s disciplined and savvy. Joy ended the year at 13/ppg, led the team in rebounding at 6.3/per, 5.3 assists/per, and an unheard of 86% FT shooter. D3’s have shown early interest but Joy looks to be a D2 floor general.
Jayden Clark Jayden Clark 5’10” | PG Huntington | 2024 State WV is the possibly the most overlooked and underrated player in WV. We believe he’s the best player not offered in WV as of right now. Clark seemingly makes every play and with ease. He’s fast, quick laterally, athletic finishing at the rim, makes every correct pass and controls tempo. Clark has great one on one presence when isolated as well as playing off the ball in a shooting guard role. Clark gets up and guards full court when asked and is very disciplined when doing so. Clark has no official offers as of now but is on some recruiting short lists, but we believe and know he’s a high or low level D2 player and has proved that against WV’s top players.
