Expert Analysis
Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
You won’t see many players bigger or stronger than Ryan at the high school level. At 6’6 and 255 pounds, the future D1 football player is a force in the paint. The Bonduel big man is a walking double-double, able to control the glass on both ends of the floor, while also converting on over 60% of his field goal attempts this season. Defensively he blocks nearly two shots a game, and is difficult to move on the block. His presence in the paint will be key for Bonduel.

It is hard to miss Westrich if you are in the same building with him. The frontcourt senior is one of the strongest players you will see in any division across the state of Wisconsin. Ryan is headed to Western Michigan for football next year, and if you have seen him play on the basketball court, you would understand why. Westrich was absolutely dominant on the glass and around the hoop finishing for the Bears. Westrich finished with an unofficial double double and poured in 20 points from the paint. Westrich is physically strong, but also has great hands and is skilled with his footwork on post touches and off the bounce. Ryan draws a ton of attention from opponents with double teams in nearly every game. He displayed his ability to pass out of these doubles as he connected with Moesch and Wesenberg for open threes several times on Thursday. If Westrich can continue his inside dominance, Bonduel can beat anyone in March.

Westrich followed up a strong sophomore season with an even more impressive junior campaign. His growth as a scorer and rebounder helped him earn a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection for Bonduel. He posted averages of 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest. Westrich was especially effective in transition and showed his shooting range with 40 made three-pointers on the year. His top performance was a 29-point, 11-rebound double-double against Manawa. The 6’6” athlete competes at a high level on the court and football field all the same.
