Watson had the performance of his career to lift Maysville to a thrilling win over previously unbeaten Lutheran East in a battle of state title contenders that had a state title feel in a packed gym. Watson didn’t miss any of his six 3-point attempts or 16 free throw attempts in what was an unbelievable offensive performance. Maysville did an excellent job moving the basketball and hitting their shooters on balance. Watson also had a handful of impressive spin moves that allowed him to score at the rim. Using his frame to shield himself away from defenders, Watson drew fouls consistently against reach in attempts. Another statement win for the Panthers who are looking for their third consecutive trip to the state title game behind their talented senior class.

Nobody shoots the ball better at UD Arena than Watson does as over two seasons in the state semifinals and championship games, Watson is shooting over 70% from 3-point range. A perfect fit on a Maysville squad that launches from 3-point range at a higher clip than anybody in the state it seems like, Watson is a prolific set shooter. With good size on the wing and a solid decision maker as well, Watson seems like the perfect small college wing shooting specialist who will have a very simple role at the next level. The Panthers will look to make it three straight trips to the state title game with Watson and company heading into their senior seasons.

When his feet are set, few players shoot the basketball as well as Watson does. Since last season Watson has gotten considerably stronger and had eight defensive rebounds to end possessions for the Panthers. With all five starters returning next season for the Panthers, we’ll see if they can run it back as state champions.

The third wheel last season, Watson has established himself as the second option for the Panthers who start five Juniors. A wing who knocks down shots off the catch, Watson got a friendly roll on a corner 3-pointer as Maysville hit the ground running in the first quarter. With his size Watson can also shoot over smaller defenders on turnaround jumpers and mid-post catches. Watson also finished off

highlight of the game as he was on the receiving end of the pass after Nichols dropped a New Lexington defender to the floor. If Maysville wants to make it back to the state title game, they’ll need Watson playing at his best.

When Maysville needed a shot made, Watson stepped up and hit some huge shots from the wing and corner. A smart player, Watson moved well without the ball and made cuts as his teammates found him. 13 assists on 23 made field goals is a great ratio and Watson was the beneficiary of some nice looks by his teammates. Just a Sophomore, the duo of Watson and
