Expert Analysis
Chad Graham | Prep Hoops Scout
Reed was a swiss army knife on both ends of the floor, but especially on defense. He was stout and physical when he matchup against true big men in the post and nimble when he needed to slide his feet versus guards. So he racked up a high volume of steals and blocks. Offensively, he shot the ball decently, spotting up, however he was more impactful from two. His agility and strength off-the-catch enabled him to attack the basket and earn free throw attempts, which he knocked down consistently.

Reed is figuring things out on both ends and it’s paying dividends for the Cougars. He’s more assertive as a perimeter defender, using his long arms to either contain or create havoc for a variety of offensive players. Reed is stepping up as an on-ball/off-ball scorer too. When he’s not showcasing his face up game, he’s exploiting advantages as a cutter or slasher.

A junkyard dog, Reed doesn’t need routine touches in the post in order to be effective. He gets going on the defensive and offensive glass, closing out possessions or getting putbacks for himself. His hustle extends to fastbreaks when he’s running the floor as the trailer. And when he does get the ball in the halfcourt, Reed can knock down jumpers from the elbow or use his footwork to create angles to score.
