Continue ReadingNearly 400 teams began their quest to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday night as the 114th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament tipped off. Now, we are already down to just 64 teams left playing. Sectional champions were crowned around the state on Saturday night and Prep Hoops Indiana has had boots on the ground coverage throughout the tournament so far. Leading into the Regional round, we will take a look back at some of the individual standouts from each class that we have seen so far. Here are our selections for the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 3A All-Sectional Team.
Clem Butler Clem Butler 6'10" | C George Washington | 2024 State IN (George Washington H.S. 2024) – College coaches looking for some size in the 2024 recruiting class should at least take a look at the 6’11” Butler on Saturday against Guerin Catholic at the Greenfield-Central Regional. The big man had 23 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots in George Washington’s Sectional championship win over Christel House Manual. He also had 9 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots in their semifinal win.
Kody Clancy Kody Clancy 6'4" | PG Scottsburg | 2024 State IN (Scottsburg H.S. 2024) – Clancy put up 27 points in Scottsburg’s win over Silver Creek as the Warriors cut down the Sectional 30 nets. He scored 17 points in the semifinals and 15 points in their opening round win against North Harrison.
Brayden Goff Brayden Goff 5'11" | PG Northview | 2026 State IN (Northview H.S. 2026) – After putting up 21 points in Northview’s semifinal win over Owen Valley, this talented sophomore had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Knights took down Edgewood to win Sectional 26. They will play Danville on Saturday in the Lebanon Regional.
Cole Hayworth Cole Hayworth 6'5" | SF Concordia Lutheran | 2024 State IN (Concordia Lutheran 2024) – Hayworth picked a great time to be at his very best. The Grace commit scored a career-high 39 points in Concordia’s win over Garrett to begin Sectional play and then backed it up with 29 points against Angola and 24 points in their championship game win over Leo.
Taray Howell Taray Howell 5'8" | PG Evansville Bosse | 2024 State IN (Evansville Bosse H.S. 2024) – Howell scored 33 points in the Bulldogs’ championship win over rival Evansville Memorial. They dynamic senior guard knocked in four three-pointers and was 9-10 from the free throw line in the game. Bosse will now take on Southridge in the Southridge Regional.
Chase Konieczny Chase Konieczny 6'4" | SG South Bend Saint Joseph | 2025 State #277 Nation IN (South Bend St. Joseph H.S. 2025) – 36 points and 14 rebounds will certainly capture some attention. That is what this 6’4″ guard put up in the Huskies’ championship game win over South Bend Clay. Konieczny also had 21 points and 7 rebounds in their semifinal win over Mishawaka Marian.
Matthew Roettger Matthew Roettger 6'2" | SG Peru | 2024 State IN (Peru H.S. 2024) – This physical 6’2″ guard averaged 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in three games while leading Peru to the Sectional 23 title. They will take on West Lafayette at the Logansport Regional on Saturday.
Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN (Guerin Catholic 2024) – One of the top unsigned senior guards still on the board, Sorensen scored 21 points in their semifinal win over Bishop Chatard and then 17 points in their double overtime victory against Brebeuf Jesuit to earn the Sectional 27 crown. Sorensen averaged 18 points per game in the Sectional and made 11 three-pointers in the three games.
