2024 Player Rankings

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At the end of September we had <strong>250</strong> players to rank for the 2024 class and we are now finalized at<strong> 315</strong>. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>56 players are new</strong>&nbsp;and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports, and went into the 2025 class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Of the 56 new players, only 5 fell in the top-100 and only 14 were in the 200 and 25 in the top 250.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This means most of the players who were already tabbed as top players, kept their rankings for the most part. Some became stock risers and others did see their rankings drop. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The reality with this class, it is prep heavy in the top-50 or so. Most of them stuck around and stayed high in the rankings. The soph and freshmen classes are usually not too affected by it but you will see it more and more in the upper classes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Also with new-age college transfer portal, less and less HS players are going D1. Players you would normally expect to be easy D1 players are now waiting for college coaches to see if they get a player from the portal. If not, then they will go back to the HS world. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>My advice to all parents at this point is, if you actually have a college offer at this point, that you can afford, say yes! You can always class up to a higher level or go to a four year college (D1/D2/D3/NAIA) after Junior College. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our goal at&nbsp;<strong>PrepHoopsAZ</strong>&nbsp;is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. It is easily one of the deeper classes in the last 10+ years that I can remember including&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='1479805' first='Dilen' last='Miller'] who committed to <strong>Georgia State</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2. The top five players committed so far are [player_tooltip player_id='2130258' first='Jeremiah' last='Johnson'] going to <strong>Oklahoma State</strong>, [player_tooltip player_id='1284846' first='Jason' last='Asemota'] to <strong>Baylor, </strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1634735' first='Emmanuel' last='Stephen'] to <strong>Arizona </strong>and [player_tooltip player_id='2300308' first='Bo' last='Aldridge'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1055726' first='Sammie' last='Yeanay'] to <strong>ASU</strong>. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>3. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on independent circuits (Pangos, Prep Hoops, WCE, NB16, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>4. Of the 315 players we have 55 PG's, 71 SG's, 42 CG's, 73 SF's, 53 PF's and only 21 C's.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
