This week I attended four varsity games which included three AIA playoff games. Tuesday I watched Hillcrest Prep defeat Paragon Academy 76-66. Wednesday I watched Highland defeat Sandra Day O'Connor 71-68. Friday I watched St. Mary's defeat Ironwood 66-47 and finally Saturday I watched ALA Ironwood defeat SCA 82-58.

Here were the Sophomore/Freshmen Standouts from the week

[player_tooltip player_id='1612468' first='Cameron' last='Williams'] St. Mary's

The long sophomore had somewhat of a breakout game with nearly 20 points with multiple monster blocks controlling the paint on defense. He showed his whole offensive repertoire with effortless dunks on feeds or alley-oops, mid-range jumpers, which is his sweet spot, transition layups and even made one three.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490240' first='Colton' last='Watson'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger wing point forward is a phenomenal passer up the court and has next level vision. He was playing on one leg literally limping around and playing through it. He scores on catch threes, layups and can hesitate and freeze his defender and go baseline and finish in traffic. He collects steals, blocks shots in bunches and rebounds well out of his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697292' first='Rylan' last='Parsley'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger scoring guard can rattle in catch triples. He came up big off the bench while the team needed a boost with four from beyond the stripe and has ultimate confidence to let it fly. He uses his length in the passing lanes and can rebound with his size.

[player_tooltip player_id='1334752' first='Caden' last='Bass'] Paragon Academy

A bigger sized combo guard can score it from all three levels. He shoots the three off the catch or off the dribble with deep range. He has a sneaky good burst and cuts without the ball and uses the floater. He handled the PG duties all game long showing his versatility.

[player_tooltip player_id='1734005' first='Grady' last='Crandall'] Highland

A super strong scoring combo guard had a huge night. He scored with reverse layups in heavy traffic using his chiseled frame. He can pour in catch threes and brings a warrior attitude to the court and scored 16 points. He is also tough to score on defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1734007' first='Talon' last='Knollmiller'] Highland

A combo guard can score it. He can shoot the three off the catch and score with ball fakes and can pull-up from mid-range. The sophomore made two important triples in a big OPEN playoff win.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353009' first='Tyler' last='Anderson'] Scottsdale Christian Academy

A long forward is active on defense to rebound and uses his length to alter shots. He can dribble drive to the basket, score on back door layups and has a good free throw touch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291974' first='Nick' last='Reber'] Highland

A bigger sized combo guard can score but he guided the mostly younger team to a victory. He scores on alley-oops, euro steps with a very tight and shifty handle in close spaces and handles contact well. His feel is high to make plays for others and his timing is impeccable.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] Highland (Pictured)

A confident scoring PG scores it a variety of ways. He uses back door cuts, pull-up threes and difficult shots in the lane rising up high. He is tough to rebound for his size and he made a clutch and-1 bucket with 50 seconds left and then cashed in with two free throws.

[player_tooltip player_id='2052370' first='Jackson' last='Harrison'] Scottsdale Christian Academy

A scoring combo guard is a pure shooter. He has an automatic stroke from the free throw line. He will score with ball fakes and rise up from mid-range, which seems to be his sweet spot. He will back door cut, stop and pop and fall away plus is patient in the post with his left hand.
